also note that Uconn......that "projected big east champ" (according to scUM homers) "big win" for Michigan

is getting handled by Temple 27-16 with 3 minutes left
There was actually a thread on gbw saying that they've started out the season with better wins than anybody else in the country. I shit you not.

Uconn goes crashing down to Temple

if Ntre Ame gets clipped by Sparty tonight those 2 wins are looking mighty insignificant, not that they were ever very significant

You should only give up 37 points to Umass if you are playing basketball. Michigan's fall will be hard this season.

Honestly, I think Michigan will do alright in B10 only because the bottom of the B10 is really down this year. It pains me to say it because they are complete garbage on D, but I'm just looking at the schedule. Purdue and Illinois look really mediocre, Indiana is probably not much better than last year, and Sparty is still Sparty. They will definitely lose 4 (tOSU, WIS, IOWA, PSU), but after that, who knows. I'd love to see them miss a bowl game again, but I would also love to see Dick stay another couple of years.

The thing about Michigan is that they are going to take the best shot from every team in the Big Ten. It still means a lot imo for these teams in the Big Ten to get a win over a school like Michigan regardless of their record and then couple that with the fact that they can actually see themselves having a realistic shot at pulling off the upset and you've got a bunch of motivated, confident teams going up against them all season.

They allowed 400+ yards to UMASS and 530+ to ND who played their awful backup QBs half of the game. This is the same scUM team as last year. They might be a little better, but I still don't see them as anything better than 6-6 (3-5) or 7-5 (4-4) at best. That's not good for a coach in his 3rd year. And given the attrition they're suffering, the depth issues that continue to plague them aren't getting any better...

It's a complete unknown. They've been far more talented than 6-8 b10 teams the last few years, but have been in dogfights or losses despite that.

The problem with Sparty & Indiana is both can do a lot of good things in the running & passing game. Purdue is pretty inconsistent but UM's secondary could be the recipe for Marve's talented but erratic performances. Illinois was a trainwreck the last two years also.

Exctly why I see them 3-5 or 4-4. If Denard stays healthy, he's probably good to flip a couple of games that have been losses the past two years, but their defense is flat awful and they aren't going to get some of the breaks all year that they've had so far. Ironically, the fact that their offense is as good as it is may end up being their undoing a few times. They strike so fast sometimes that the D doesn't get a rest and goes right back out on the field three minutes after allowing a sustained drive only to allow another score.

If U-M has 4 injuries to DBs like Ohio State has suffered so far, they'll be dressing waterboys by November. What's really sad is that most people wouldn't be able to tell the difference.

Well, they outscored them right?

That's the plan...don't need a defense when you can just keep scoring.

That was BAD defense by UM today. UMASS just couldn't hang defensively. If they had a teaspoon of depth on defense they would have won that game today going away.

They are going to start seeing defenses that actually offer resistance soon. They haven't yet. Once that happens, they're in trouble.
