That's good for them, because I read somewhere that our guys are only practicing to finish the 3rd quarter. We're doomed.

Plus, I don't think it is outrageous to think that Ohio State talent + Urban Meyer following the most dysfunctional season in a century will improve more drastically than a 5-7 UCF team being coached by the same guy.

Everybody scores 56 or more points against Miami of Ohio, right?

That's true, as long as you define "everybody" as Dartmouth on October 3rd, 1942. That's the last time it happened.

Conversely, Akron has had 56 or more points put up on them 4 times in the last 3 seasons. (one in 09, one in 10 and two last year).

It would be a mistake to say that this tells us everything we need to know about this match-up. It would be just as big a mistake to suggest that this tells us nothing.

I agree with those that have pointed out that week one aberrations are the rule, not the exception. That does not mean that we know nothing about these teams. The Buckeyes offense is better than it was last year by a large margin. The defense has not taken a huge step backwards. I suspect they've improved, but that remains to be proven. Better offense, similar (or better) defense. That's enough to be confident about this coming Saturday.

I wonder what our D-line and Marotti thinks about that statement? We have not really had a chance to see it yet, but my guess is that our team will be pretty darn well conditioned, and the chances of the UCF offensive line wearing down our defensive front guys is slim to none. Especially considering the rotation of players we are likely to see, I think this lineman is perhaps a bit optimistic.

He's right. No defensive line can go an entire game. However he completely neglected the fact that we have 9 capable "starter" level players on the line, so when they do get winded, they'll just rotate out for a bit.

Totally agree. Wasn't saying that last week tells us nothing, but rather that we don't know exactly what it means.

The statement in bold is my nominee for under-statement of the year! :)

UCF is a fine team, poorly coached, but fundamentally sound. (thanks to the captains). That said, OSU is a bad match up for UCF. Forget who did what to who last week or what they may do for the season. An athletically out manned team that depends on the power run game is going to need some serious help from an athletically superior team team that excels at stopping the run if they are going to have any shot at success.

I'm not saying it's impossible, just highly improbable.

Surely he can't be serious? I mean, I know some people around here who are "into" UCF sports, but I don't think a single one of them would be able to say that Brighthouse Stadium is even in the same league as the Shoe in terms of noise. I mean, they have trouble selling out more than one or two big games a season from everyone I've talked to.

most of them are to black out drunk to even make into the stadium that's why

If tOSU needs crowd noise to win this game I'll be disappointed..if we are losing you will be able to hear the crickets..Rabid is not a word used to describe our crowds. On the other hand that Wisc game last year was LOUD.

Kinda simple to me...when I walked to a game at noon, I was not feeling as pumped as walking to a game at 8 p.m. :biggrin: It's science.
