Big fan of the Boy Scouts here. All of my boys are involved.
My 12 year old is determined to get his Eagle, go to Philmont, etc., etc. My 10 year old just became a Weblo II and the Littlest Who is in his second year.
My wife wrote this for Good Housekeeping Magazine.
I'm glad your son isn't eaten by a bear, GatorBoi.

... I can show my son how to do laundry; I can teach him about being prepared and doing a good turn.
But I can't tell him how to be a good man. His father can, by his own example, but a boy needs more than one role model.
There are no male teachers at my sons' elementary school, and while I don't consider it a handicap to be surrounded by strong, capable women, something vital is missing from their education.
They find it at Scouts, thanks to the dads who serve as our pack and troop leaders? men of commitment, generosity, patience, kindness, and action.
Men of honor who, by embracing this tradition, become better husbands, brothers, and friends to the women in their lives.
And this woman is grateful to them, kneesocks and all, for being there, tonight and every week, ushering my sons safely forward, welcoming them into their company.
I'm glad your son isn't eaten by a bear, GatorBoi.
