U.S. Men's National Soccer (Official Thread)

Geez, Twellman... Italy are getting in behind the back line a lot because they are OFFSIDE. Instead of bitching about it, why not give credit where it's due for having the discipline and organization to draw eight offside flags without conceding a goal against a quality side.

EDIT: I guess I shouldn't expect any other attitude considering the source. A former MLS goal poacher with mediocre talent is bound to think that if you make enough poorly-timed runs the flag is bound to stay down sometime.

DEMPSEY!!!!!

55' Great holding play from Altidore to set it up.

I joked to a friend of mine (who is an Altidore hater) that Altidore was going to have to get with the program and learn to be a target or find someone who was and that his first homework assignment would be to watch about 200 hours of Oliver Bierhoff tape. Sounds like it's paying off.

As to the offside traps, welcome to Jurgen-land. Sooner or later, that's going to pay off in relentless counterattack.

With Shea and Johnson subbed out Italy immediately exploits the left side.

Boyd on for Altidore. After the first 25 minutes or so, Jozy played exactly as you'd hope for from a strong, lone striker playing in front of a guy like Dempsey.

Italy 0:1 USA - Final.

Breakthrough win for Klinsmann's program!

EDIT: The US have pulled off some eye-opening wins in their day. Few of them have seemed legit, but this one does. That was one of the best all-around performances I've ever seen by a US back line. I can't think of a single player who had a bad day.

Would have been a breakthrough with a draw.

Nice... I didn't get to pay close attention, will to the speed rewatch later tonight if I can.
