U.S. Men's National Soccer (Official Thread)

Not even a single shot on fucking goal. I have missed a lot of soccer over the years but this seems like the absolute bottom of the rocks and whatever else lies beneath. How do you have so much young talent and not even a single shot?

At last we've got some healthy additions to the roster today.

Wth is happening in Saudi? There are no fans there. It's like COVID in full strengthEdit: sounds like it's a neutral site game in Spain. Weird

First 30 minutes in and I think this yeah is in big fucking trouble. Looks nothing like the late Sitting group. I think there's been too many different people on the rosters but guys playing all over the world might make that an immovable obstacle.

What we're seeing right now though this team wont make it out of the round robins

Better second half so far definitely. Aaronson just now in for Pulisic in 75'

Scally off the bench has had a lot of energy and it's infectious. He seems like a gamer but his measurables are likely one of the lower ones on the roster. I always love a guy who just plays hard af and does his job. It gives you confidence that something good is going to happen when they're in the game.

Last friendly before Wales. Hopefully these guys get good run with their clubs and healthy where necessary. The energy has to be way up for them to be successful.

This doesn’t feel that enjoyable going into the WC in 2 months.
No, it's definitely discombobulated. With several guys out the past two games it leaves a lot of questions about fitness and chemistry. Seems some confidence is lacking a little too but that is perception so it might be completely wrong. I guess we'll see when Berhalter puts out the WC roster and discusses who he's going to play and where. He has to know that the guys bringing the most energy have to play where possible.

2 attempts at goal today which isnt good but miles better than Japan which is brutal. Saudi didnt have 3 of their best players today too so they might have made us look even worse. Ugh

in retrospect....the non-fans probably had an idea of what was about to happen. you couldn't have paid me to watch that shit.

I mean, that was sure something... I did have my internet go out for a big chunk of the second half, and I don't feel cheated.

Lots of talk I guess about the jitters of still trying to make the team and all that crap, I guess that's a thing. Oddly, I probably felt a lot better about coming up with an 18 dude roster a year ago than I do now.

I suppose its part of having a young group that you need to keep them on their toes and playing for their spots, on the other hand there's something to be said about having a consistent lineup... not necessarily a "these are my only guys" kind of thing, but still a framework within which to work. (Injuries have hurt that too, not just on Berhalter). I don't particularly like that I don't feel great about the CB's. (and there were dumb little things like why is Long having to do ticky tack professional fouls at MF before the forward turns? ) I really don't like Matt Turner, I think he's a dick, but, is there any real reason he's not the #1? I won't mention that I don't know who the 9 or 10 are. Which seems important.
