If it’s the same rule as MLS, they have the ability to sub 5 players, but must do so in 3 sub windows (aka sub two on twice and another single sub).

Ok, that’s what I thought, but it just seems odd to hear them talk about

I can’t tell you how aggravating it is when there’s a ball going towards one of the US players, no one within 15 yards of them, and they choose to header the ball instead of bringing it down, and making a smarter pass. It’s happened at least four times tonight, and every time has resulted in a turnover.

I was pretty puzzled when I saw the Crew going for a fourth and fifth sub a few weeks ago, then I remembered they implemented that. I believe the three sub window is to prevent teams from time wasting with 5 separate subs late in a game.

Good news for US, is Qatar’s back line isn’t that great and their GK is no where close to Andre Blake’s level. The bad news, their attack is MUCH better than any team the US has faced so far. Will be a very interesting game for sure.

A week or so ago I googled "Why is Qatar playing in CONCACAF?". The article I found mentioned some legit reasons, and then at the end sprinkled in a bit about how it doesn't hurt that Qatar brought a high paying sponsor with them. Knowing how FIFA bids work, and how Qatar magically won the WC bid...there's a world where I'd wonder if something's a little fixed for the new guys to have a good showing.

Then I watched the Qatar/El Salvador match. This Qatar team might have somebody in their pocket.....but they certainly don't need that to beat this US team.
