U.S. Men's National Soccer (Official Thread)

I just wanted to put this highlight here too....

This is the difference between Brooks and a lot of the guys we have had in the past, he can jump high (as a 6'4" needs to) to clear the ball, he can tackle guys hard and he can do all that stuff, but when you have center backs that can start attacks and beat defenders with passes, it matters. Obviously on the game winner there he started the sequence with a very precise ball into McKennie... We have a lot of young, talented kids with sky's the limit potential, but Brooks is one of the best players at his position in the game right now.

Edit: @OHSportsFan - I can't tell because of how zoomed out it is but that might be your guy with the space behind him not coming back with his line (that dude was NOT interested in 4-4-2 at all)

The stage is set for Sunday evening's Concacaf Nations League final, with the US men's national team and Mexico reprising their rivalry with a regional trophy on the line in Denver, Colorado (9 pm ET | CBSSN, Paramount+, Univision).

The USA and Mexico have met 70 times: Mexico has 35 wins, the US has 19 wins, and there have been 15 draws, so history says it's been one-sided.

Prior to 1990 Mexico had 22 wins, the US had 1 win, and there were 3 draws. Since then: US has 17 wins, Mexico 14 wins, and there have been 12 draws.

USA soccer has come a long way the last 30 years, but in that time they've played Mexico 6 times for the CONCACAF Gold Cup. Mexico has won 5 times.

Sunday's match is important in that the US can swing the pendulum a bit, or keep getting beat like a drum when it matters.

For some dumb reason I actually believe tonight. Like Jake said, with all this world-class talent it’s time to stake their claim as the best in the region tonight.
My greatest day of soccer, likely for the rest of my life, was the 2002 Round of 16. That said, I don’t see a result like that tonight. I see us sticking with it early, but Mexico wearing it down like the last Gold Cup. I see a Mexico win tonight.

There was some dumb sportsline article today about going to a 3-5-2... And they did do that recently. They do that and they will lose. I hate formational tactic talk, against opponents, I care about who we have. Fuck Mexico.

If they do that, better be with Yedlin, he knows how to handle himself in that. .

If Adams is good, screw that, get the four guys you like in back, put him on top of those 4 and tell Mexico to deal with the counters from Pulisic and Gio. And keep pulisic high and wide.
