“Just like iron sharpens iron, so does man sharpen other men,” receiver Jehu Chesson said.

This is needlessly picky, but fuck Michigan and Harbaugh, so:

You make iron with other iron- a hammer and anvil- you sharpen iron with a whetstone.

Who the fuck sharpens iron with iron? Slamming two swords together in a fight actually does the exact opposite and makes the edge duller.

Therefore slamming your brain with harbaugh quotes makes one duller as well?

Chesson was apparently quoting the Harbrau.

“Just like iron sharpens iron, so does man sharpen other men,” receiver Jehu Chesson said. “And when [Harbaugh] says that, it really gets you to think what competition really does for a team..."

The Chesson was quoting The Harbrau was quoting The Bible: “As iron sharpens iron, so one man sharpens another.” Proverbs 27:17

Not a biblical scholar, but I don't think this passage is really about competition.

Not to quibble with the Bible, but.... if iron doesn't actually sharpen iron as 86 said, then one man does not sharpen another, right?

Actually, considering the results on the field, I'm inclined to say the use of the quote is showing those results on the field. Unsharp men, losing at football. Now, I suspect there are results in the locker room too.... NTTAWWT
