@NFBuck

Peppers is an AMAZING athlete who isn't good enough in coverage to play CB and isn't good enough at tackling to play S and couldn't do dick on offense either.

So moving him to LB is the solution?

This is a pretty good example of why I never get particularly concerned when Michigan lands a highly rated recruit.

They have been quite consistent at turning talent to [Mark May] up there recently.
You try playing multiple positions with a seeping dick.

Cloaker.

A little something I want to call "Fun with mgoblog"...a post-spring game roster run down by the leaders of the dumbest fanbase in America--

Fire dick is has now officially surpassed Barwis!!!!11!!1!! for absurd hyperbolic drooling with these clowns. He has done next to nothing to earn the hype he receives, but damn if they aren't gonna beat that drum (or something more vulgar) until their hands fall off.

It ain't gonna click because he fucking sucks.

So after an offseason of hearing how this hillbilly was gonna unleash doom on the CFB world, he has yet to separate himself from Wilton fuckin' Speight? Also, look at this asshole:

John-OKornEdited-featured.jpg

Solid, never spectacular back who has shredded his knees multiple times is still their "most explosive back." That sounds promising.

:slappy:

If his Sr. season in HS is any indication, he might not be Fitz Toussaint, let alone Mr. Fournette.

Obviously it's a result of him being undernourished too (article from last year):roll1::

Would Peppers have even been a starter in last year's Ohio State defense?

Over future first round pick Darron Lee...? Nope

Over a pair of 250-pound thumpers in Raekwon McMillan and Joshua Perry...? Nope

Over future first round pick Eli Apple....? Nope

Over lock down cornerback Gareon Conley...? Nope

Over All American safety Vonn Bell...? Nope

Over National Championship MVP Tyvis Powell...? Maybe, although Powell's experience and knack for making big plays would've probably relegated Peppers to nickel back.

And let's not even talk about the Buckeye offense, where Peppers wouldn't even have seen a snap playing behind Ezekiel Elliott, Michael Thomas, Braxton Miller, and Jalin Marshall.

So on last year's Ohio State team, Peppers is a nickel back and kick returner.

On this year's Michigan team, he is the second-coming of Charles Woodson.

Dream on, Walmart Nation.

If he enrolled in 2012, he might have started over Powell. I am not sure he unseats him. If he did start, and the starters were ranked, he would be near the bottom.

He's not within miles of Bosa, Apple, Bell or Lee. He's behind Perry, Washington and Conley. I'd put Kwon ahead of him, though it's debatable. He's near Lewis and ahead of whoever is playing DT. I'd put Hubbard ahead of him despite coming off of the bench.

I don't think he can cover well enough to be a nickel back in this scheme and I don't think you want Powell and Peppers as your back line even if you moved Bell there on passing downs.

He'd be much more useful this year, yet if Powell returns would he start? Or would he be moved to walkout LB?

im so incredibly confused. though in fairness the "stupid" bit i struggle with could be playing into this.... but anywho... can anyone explain this to me?

so this guy:
1. LB/CB/S/KR/PR/WR/RB/NICKEL Jabrill Peppers, So.* [Last time: 1]
who happens to be an "elite lock down corner" type who, according to the harbles, could literally play like 5 different positions at an elite level is being MOVED from cb to lb because of a backup of "elite" talent at cb and a "lack of bodies" at lb?

2. CB Jourdan Lewis, Sr. [Last time: 2]
ok, so this semi fits the above theory i guess.... though pbu leader is another way of saying, "you got a lot of chances because the ball was being thrown your way A LOT!". but lets give him credit here as peppers is apparently #1 and a true elite lock down corner. so maybe lewis is merely slightly less capable but definitely not a good option throw towards. ok... ill go with that... for now..

12. ILB Ben Gedeon, Sr. [Last time: 12]
the harbles calls him a "stud" and he is all but a lock at ilb. hmmm.... ok.. continuing on....

21. ILB Mike McCray, Jr* [Last time: NR]
called a "fairly safe bet" to start next to gedeon...

24. CB Channing Stribling, Sr [Last time: NR]
"in stone starter" per the harbles....

ILB Devin Bush Jr
listed as "technically not a starter but close" listed as an early enrollee all but assured PT by depth chart.

CB Jeremy Clark
also listed as "technically not a starter but close" apparently has Richard Sherman size and solid junior year; will play a lot.

other persons of note or whatever:
CB David Long—program ambassador role starts now, CB starter in 2017?
CB LaVert Hill—Jourdan Lewis analogue in HS; will play with expectation of starting next year.
CB Brandon Watson—saw some nickel snaps when M was trying to save Peppers a bit.
CB Keith Washington—Breaston-esque HS QB competing at CB, coming off redshirt

ILB Elysee Mbem-Bosse
apparently the most field-ready of ILB freshmen outside of Bush.

*ponders*
ok so.... your going to take the BEST athlete on your entire team who is also without question the best cb as well, not to mention being a proven elite lock down corner. your going to move him to lb where you currently have 3 all but guaranteed starters. 4 if you count bosse. while i realize deeerrrrkin deeerrrrkin deeerrrrkin likes the 3-4 life and there is the thought that peppers can literally do anything. im just not sure how a "proven elite lock down corner" (and best cb on the team mind you) is the best candidate for a position change regardless of need at said position....

my favorite part of this whole mess? they seem convinced that any number of guys so low on their list they don't deserve numbers can just walk in and replace their literal #1 guy........ i guess this just means that every person on their roster is so good they are literally all tied for #1....

Lewis is our best CB.

well yeah... i would say he is now...

ok, lets say just for a second that peppers isn't and at no point has ever been your best cb. your still gonna tell me that your best option to fill a lb void is taking an experienced starting cb who according to your coach is an "elite lock down corner" and filling his spot with someone who has significantly less experience? and this is somehow a "win" from a defensive perspective?

is this the part where we debate whether an elite lock down corner is less vital to a defense than a 3-4 lb..? even if you want to argue the point. why not just move one of your inexperienced cb's to lb rather than the "elite lock down corner"???

Peppers showed zero indication of being an "elite lockdown corner" last year. Zero. None. In fact, IIRC, his coverage skills were considered a weakness. His best skill seemed to be blowing up/snuffing out screens...which is great...it's a nice thing to have, but he wasn't a great tackler, took odd angles, and got juked out of his jock-strap by JT Barrett. He's an elite athlete...but that seems to be the basis for this insane hype they're creating at places like mgoblog. Maybe the light clicks on and he becomes a "destroyer of worlds" this year, but at this point there's zero indication that happens. In fact, them bouncing him around to different positions would seem to indicate they're trying to find a position where his athleticism lets him shine while hiding his flaws the best. The Woodson comparisons are so far beyond laughable, they're not even worth addressing. They should be happy if he becomes a poor-man's Chris Gamble based on what he showed last season.
