ttun Shenanigans and Arguments (2015 official thread)

Really thought they put out the dumpster fire by hiring Harball. But I'm starting to think the flaming dumpster was taken to the landfill and has caught the entire place on fire...

This guy better pull out some magical coaching next year, because it just seems like its one embarrassment after another up there.

0I am not worried about the Defense. I am worried about the O line. This issue has been evident for the past 3 seasons. Why didn't Hoke recruit more O line men?

Hoke took a crap load of offensive lineman, like a huge amount, and most of them were pretty highly rated. Half these clowns don't even know who's on their own team.

Actually, he passed on a ton of OL the last two classes. Here is a list of the number of OL taken by scUM the last four classes:

2015 - 3 OL of 14 total
2014 - 2 OL of 16 total
2013 - 7 OL of 27 total
2012 - 4 OL of 25 total

He took a grand total of five OL over the last two classes, and 16 OL in four classes. Averaging four OL a class isn't real bad, but taking only five OL over two classes is scary bad.

It seems like OSU has had a few classes where we've only taken 2-3 OL, or is it that just it seems a large number of OL haven't panned out?

You might want to spend a few moments worrying about not having a QB while you are at it

Harbaugh is hoping to get the guy from Iowa that was demoted to 2nd string.:slappy:

Iowa QB Jake Rudock permitted to transfer with “no strings attached”

Jake Rudock‘s future at Iowa – or, more accurately, lack thereof – became apparent in January when the Hawkeyes released a depth chart with C.J. Beathard in the all-important QB1 spot. On Wednesday, head coach Kirk Ferentz all but gave him his bus ticket out of town, allowing the senior-to-be to transfer with “no strings attached.”

“He’s exploring some other options at this point, with our support. Not our encouragement, but certainly our support. We’ll work through the process,” Ferentz told the Associated Press. “Until he decides what he’s going to do definitively, we’ll just keep him outside the program.”

Rudock was not listed on the Hawkeyes’ 2015 spring roster. His imminent transfer has been in the works for a week now.

Where will he end up? The smart money is on Michigan, where the quarterback-challenged Wolverine roster meets quarterback-friendly coach Jim Harbaugh, seemingly giving Rudock a nice opportunity to extend his career beyond college football. Fox Sports’ Bruce Feldman reported last week Rudock was expected to visit the Wolverines.

He'd have to sit out a year, correct? Or no? I guess I don't understand the extents of "no strings attached".

Re: Rudock, who visited Michigan earlier this week, could play immediately as a graduate transfer.

Re: Iowa quarterback Jake Rudock is free to transfer anywhere, including to another Big Ten school, Hawkeyes coach Kirk Ferentz said Wednesday.

The "no strings attached" is just Iowa is releasing him without any restrictions as to which college he can transfer to.

Just sayin': The articles sound like Ferentz is actually glad Rudock is leaving Iowa. You would think that Ferentz would want to keep him; he has been a decent QB (see stats in links below). Also as Ohio State demonstrated this past season, you can never have too many quarterbacks. However, just maybe, Rudock has some "baggage" that isn't coming out in the articles.

I think he's a graduate transfer, like Russell Wilson was. Meaning he can play immediately.
In other leagues. He needs a waiver in the B1G as an intraconference transfer.

They recently changed their rules to allow intraconference transfers to sit out a year but remain on scholarship if the school signs off on the transfer, like Brian Bobek to Minnesota. This was a change from the Justin Boren era, who was not allowed to receive scholarship aid elsewhere in the B1G despite Michigan signing off on the transfer.

Rudock is free to transfer to another conference and play under the wildly abused graduate studies free agency program. Also, outsiders are allowed to transfer in and play like Chad Lindsay or Wayne Lyons. I've been out of the loop for a few days, but as of last weekend the league had not ruled on this situation. Personally I think the rule is trash and if it were actually about academics, you could just award them an extra year after the year off.

The reason for the delay is deciding whether they want to green light future free agency within the conference. That said, if they are going to accept outside transfers under this rule and the departing school signs off on it, I don't think the B1G should stand in the way.
