ttun Shenanigans and Arguments (2015 official thread)

You guys are the first to point out "it's not how you start, but how you finish," in regards to recruiting. Urb closes strong every year. There's still 10 months until signing day. I wouldn't be to concerned about numbers just yet. Plus, after a decade of being but a blip on the radar, I'm sure most recruits want to see the product on the field.
He might consider visiting ohio at some point.

Michigan should sleep-walk to 9-10 wins annually. A teenage Dungeons & Dragons Dungeonmaster with a set of 20-sided dice ought to be able to coach them to 9 wins.
Who ever said Harbaugh was a good recruiter in the first place? His recruiting "track record" at Stanford really wasn't that good:

year.............Rivals..........Scout...........team record
2007..............#51............#43..............4-8
2008..............#50............#44..............5-7
2009..............#20............#16..............8-5
2010..............#26............#24..............12-1

In 4 years at Stanford he only had two 5 star guys (Scout), one was Luck in 2008 which basically accounted for the 12-1 record in year 2010. Without Luck, Harbaugh undoubtedly would have had a losing record at Stanford.
People give him credit because Stanford is a smart kids school, and he won a lot of games. He got top-25 recruiting classes out of the pool of kids that can actually get into Stanford. Unlike most of the other schools in the country they don't relax their standard of admission to the NCAA minimum. How many 5-star athletes each year can actually meet Stanford's minimum admission requirements? Maybe 2 or 3, and he got 2 of them in 4 years. That's a higher percentage of 5 star recruits committing that have actual committable offers of anyone. Plus he was coming off a team that in the previous 5 years had gone 2-9, 4-7, 4-7, 5-6, 1-11. He turned it around. He left it as a team that top recruits actually wanted to go. A team that people actually talk about as a potential national title contender. Be a ttun hater all you want, and call Harbrau a lunatic, and we all hope he falls flat on his face up north, but don't say he did a poor job at stanford, that's just arrogance.

And I would attribute some of his 09-10 recruiting success to the eruption of chaos at USC.

Well if a recruit can resist Juniors lyrical siren songs then it's obviously far more efficient to hire a former coach/parent to the scUM staff than to just go waste time recruiting the player.

If one spends all their time recruiting one can't keep up with Madonna, rescue motorists or coach first base in spring training.

Jim-Bo is playing chess with a ferocity unknown to mankind while everyone else is playing checkers.
