ttun Shenanigans and Arguments (2015 official thread)

First QB? Didn't he take a 5th year transfer from Wyoming or one of those geometrically shaped states that don't matter?
Colorado is watching you.

If your going to assume the team that recruits better wins, 6 of the 9 conference teams teams he plays every year flat out don't recruit. So there's 6 wins right there. Then throw in the pedsters as a team that now recruits mediocre as a potential win. Throw in the 3 turds they have scheduled OOC between now and 2021 and there is your ten. I think Va Tech may be their stiffest OOC opponent over the next 6 seasons. Who knows, they may schedule bama again at the last minute. Plus a bowl which could be a potential win. Shouldn't be difficult to hit 9-10 wins. Although this year is was the same thing and they managed to loose SEVEN GAMES :slappy::slappy::slappy::slappy: so I could be wrong. I'm throwing out my best guess, not what I'd hope to happen.
Yeah, but have you seen their recruiting so far? They have two--count 'em, two--recruits in their 2016 class so far, and both committed before Barney Rubble was canned. Chimp Tarball has been on the job for pushing three months now and doesn't have a single commit.

You guys are the first to point out "it's not how you start, but how you finish," in regards to recruiting. Urb closes strong every year. There's still 10 months until signing day. I wouldn't be to concerned about numbers just yet. Plus, after a decade of being but a blip on the radar, I'm sure most recruits want to see the product on the field.

This is true. However, there was much crowing coming from up north about how The Harbrau™ was going to come in and have elite recruits tripping over themselves to commit. That so far most certainly is not the case. They may be taking a "wait and see" approach like you say, but that was definitely not the expectation when he took the job. So, yeah, we reserve the right to point and laugh.

Also, Urban is indeed a top-notch closer, however, his recruiting got off to a MUCH quicker start, including landing a few blue-chip recruits within the first few weeks on the job, and a pretty fast start to his first full class in 2012. No matter how anybody tries to paint it, The Harbrau™ is off to a slow start, which given his profile, is a little surprising. Hell, IIRC, the fat garbageman got off to a really fast start with his first full class.

Agreed.

Yes, I did think there would be some more instant commits. But I think the power of just how bad they have been for awhile now has really quelled that in a lot of recruits mind.

Going to have to actually do something on the field before we actually get commits, as opposed to the looks they are garnering right now.

Who ever said Harbaugh was a good recruiter in the first place? His recruiting "track record" at Stanford really wasn't that good:

year.............Rivals..........Scout...........team record
2007..............#51............#43..............4-8
2008..............#50............#44..............5-7
2009..............#20............#16..............8-5
2010..............#26............#24..............12-1

In 4 years at Stanford he only had two 5 star guys (Scout), one was Luck in 2008 which basically accounted for the 12-1 record in year 2010. Without Luck, Harbaugh undoubtedly would have had a losing record at Stanford.

This is the thread where we piss on your team. Logic need not apply. That said, your new coach appears to suck at recruiting thus far.
