Yoder is like the scUM version of NevadaBuck. Fans hate him when he's wrong, but love him when he gets a story right.

just to be clear, everyone knows Yoder is a parody account? That’s the genius of it. He’s an OSU fan just destroying the Michigan hardcore fanbase.

I hope people understand this….it’s amazing to watch once you have that understanding.

I would fully expect that bagman excuse, but it is far more likely NIL. Think about it... old timers like me remember scUM as a force in the B1G and a national player. The last two decades they've been neither. For the kids being recruited now, scUM just is another also ran program. Which is to say, if I'm a D-I caliber CB with a bunch of instagram followers... what "brand" am I going to ant to go associate with, the one I've never heard of or the one that's in contention for the CFP every year?

"Zero clue which it is"

:slappy:
In addition to the crystal ball prediction hype for anyone that glances sideways at Michigan on the way past, one of the more glaring indicators of just how awful their insider coverage continues to be is the complete lack of awareness around what their recruiting board looks like.

The most glaring example right now is OL recruiting, unless I'm missing it somewhere, no one seems to have any clue who their top targets are.

In contrast, who around here can name Ohio State’s top two targets at OL (Dewberry, Greene), S (Branch, Nwankpa), and the dynamics around DL recruiting (basically playing musical chairs with Bama/Oklahoma with guys like Abor and Jackson while prioritizing McClellan, Kanu, and Curry).

Their insiders suck, but it’s likely the case that their coaches and overall strategy also suck, which makes it harder to determine what the plan is in the first place even for competent coverage, which is also funny.

This is more of a general thought on NIL that was inspired by your comment rather than a specific response to it, but while the players themselves can benefit from NIL, I still feel things like $200k donations to fake churches can have a pretty big influence on family members and the ultimate outcome of a recruitment.

It’s mockable that Michigan thinks they’re playing in that realm with their sub-#500 tier three-star priorities, but I do believe the playing field isn’t entirely leveled by NIL at the elite level due to those type of family benefits which as far as I know are still not covered by what is legal now.

.

Damn. Just took a look at 247. They have one OL commit, who is rated in the 700s.

Only one other OL prospect is listed who is not "cool" towards UM and he is 100% CB'd to Washington.

Take a moment and try to imagine OSU being in that position at this point in the recruiting cycle.

Wow. Just wow.

That huge recruiting month of July is definitely continuing into August.

It really is amazing how wildly unrealistic DFBIA is in their expectations. So some West Coast kid has a phone convo with a coach and a decent OV and all of a sudden he's a near lock (two green arrows up) to Michigan, and maybe just maybe he's going to bring his top-150 high school teammate along with him?

Do… do they think Michigan is “out East”?

Plan?! There clearly has not been any discernible plan since RichRod was there.

"Switch to a 3-4 defense?" "Sure - because NFL.....Ravens.....my brother........" "Do we have the personnel to run a 3-4?" "No". "Great!!!!"
"Offensive identity?" "Manball." "This isn't 1975 anymore." "Fine. We don't need one." "Uh.... ya kinda do" "Fine." (Hire Gattis from 'Bama.) "Speed in space!!!" "Let's bring in 12 fullbacks." "Identity found!!!"
"O-line?" "Nah." "Seriously....." "Ok, Ed Warriner, he was Urban's staff and they took a couple of our defensive coaches, so problem solved." "Uh......"
