There's a clear disparity, but not "42-13" worth...I at least expected it to be competitive. In actuality it was a wake up call to the talent difference in the two programs at that point.

I dunno about that. Look at the draft. Every game should have been at least 42-13 this year. There's a clear disparity, but not "42-13" worth...
Michigan actually had a legit defense. Taking what they gave up in regulation (thus discarding the TD Indiana scored in the first OT of their 2OT game), and discarding the lulz punt flub TD Sparty got (not on the defense), Michgan gave up 15.4 points a game on defense. Those clowns actually had a five-game stretch where their defense gave up 14 points total, including three straight shutouts. If you remove the 42 points we scored, that plummets to 13.2 points a game. I've rewatched The Game about two dozen times already, and can't get enough of watching Barbaugh keep staring up at the Jumbotron for half the game, totally fucking clueless. We scored TDs on essentially six straight drives (the drive where we started on our own 25 with exactly a minute left in the first half after Chesson's TD is discounted). Even with the talent we had, there's no way we should've ran roughshod other them that badly...I dunno about that. Look at the draft. Every game should have been at least 42-13 this year.
Their D was overrated as hell. A perfect example of how you can hide things with stats. We have a player at the top 4 or 5 of this year's draft at every position except kicker. We don't even throw to the TE and we have a top 3 TE. Even if their D was as good as people wanted to pretend all season long, we had (and still have) loads more talent than they do.Michigan actually had a legit defense. DL was the thinnest group with all the injuries though. This year it looks pretty deep with Mone back.
Just the defensive scheme the whole game was a [Mark May] show from the start. Still not sure what Durkin was doing. Like he had one foot out the door already to Maryland or something.

Your linebackers sucked and were slow.
