UM has a decent chance of making the NIT this year if they manage to go 6-12 in the Big Ten because they probably will win the rest of their OOC games other than the Kansas game. I wonder what Kansas was thinking when they scheduled a home & home with UM - did they really expect them to be any good?

So why is Kansas scheduling OSU to replace UM?

I may have been mistaken earlier - I'm not sure but I doubt that the NIT counts games against NAIA teams towards win totals - UM's win today was against an NAIA team, so they likely would need to be at least 7-11 in the Big Ten to be above .500 this year. There's a lot of bad teams in the Big Ten this year, so don't be surprised if they're able to make it back to where Tommy Amaker brought them so frequently. Funny how making the NIT was a terminable offense under Amaker, yet making it under Beilein is great coaching.

I didn't understand why Beilein would schedule NAIA teams for games that count a month into the season until the broadcaster said it was because Beilein wants to keep the money (from the guarantee paid to the opponent) in-state, and that he always schedules one game every year against a non-Division I team for that reason. Still, it's an odd practice - I can't think of any other high major coaches that have a practice of scheduling NAIA or Division II teams (in games that count, not just exhibitions) every year.

I see 2 really bad teams in Iowa and Penn State

Indiana I think is a little better then they have been the past few years

Northwestern.....they havent really played anyone, but they looked decent...they did smash Ga Tech

The also dismantled a very good mid-major in Creighton. NW is gonna be tough at home.

Watched most the game last night vs Utah. This Darius Morris kid is a pretty solid talent. The team as a whole isn't flashy, but they can probably give some teams fits this year. I'm not really up on the rest of the big 10, so I'll stick by my around 15 wins prediction. But they seem to play much better "team" ball than they did last year.

That Utah game was brutal to watch, maybe just because scUM was winning :biggrin: scUM looked ok, defended alright, had pretty good ball movement and shot pretty well, and seem to have decent depth. They look to have pretty good depth as well. I think Utah is a pretty decent team (you sure couldn't tell by that game, they never looked in rythm, which I don't think was all on scUM's D)

That may mean that scUM is pretty good, they beat Clemson as well, but again, how good is Clemson, I think, not very. I think that they'll be what they've been, a squad who if they shoot well, will give some better teams fits, if they don't they could lose to some high school squads.
