ttun basketball (Juwan out, Dusty May in)

After watching the tape and hearing both coaches' post games, I don't think Gard should get much at all. Howard looked like he was chirping at Wiscy players/coaches further down the line as he got to Gard. Between what he said that he said to Gard and it looking like he was chirping down the line, I'd say Gard was right to hold him up for a second. Sure, maybe he could/should have let him continue to be a hot-headed, whiny bitch on down the line, but that could have possibly turned out worse if he was talking down the line there as well. I don't have too much of an issue with what Gard did. The rest of the benches, I'm not too sure, was really only paying attention to the head coaches in the videos.

If he said “I’ll remember that” let him stew in that shit until you meet again. You already won. He wasn’t saying anything to the players. Don’t touch him.

Say something postgame about how pissy he was about a timeout, even though he had his team playing full press on the backups. I’d have made him more mad in the press.

Whatever Gard did or didn't do - FWIW he'll get something - Juwanna needs to keep his fucking head.

He's done or at least he should be. This isn't the first incident either.

Nope, he's had a couple of post game issues, most notably with Turtle/Turgeon last year. The guy is a fucking hot head. Losing your cool to that level over something that trivial is bullshit and a piss-poor example of leadership. He has no business coaching kids.

Suspending him the rest of the season should be the minimum punishment...suspend him a whole calendar year..this is the 2nd time in less than a year he's gotten into it with an opposing coach...give every player that threw a punch a remainder of season suspension.

But Kevin Warren will give him the absolute bare minimum punishment possible, assuming the university doesn't do anything.

According to the Big Ten Sportsmanship Policy, the most Warren can do himself is impose a 2-game suspension and up to a $10,000 fine. He has to work in concert with scUM if he/they want to add more.

He should be fired. Not only is threatening violence a crime, hitting is assault. Dude is there to be a role model snd coach basketball, not BJJ.

I watched the end of the game and the whole scuffle on live TV, but I recently saw another angle on the confrontation between the two coaches. Despite the fact that Howard started the pissing contest during the game by having his players press and foul the Wiscy backups while down by about 15 points in the final 30 seconds, Howard felt he had the right to get pissed at Gard for calling timeout to avoid a 10-second call in the final 15 seconds. Howard delayed entering the handshake line, then tried to walk by while bitching to Gard as he’s going by. Gard wasn’t going to let him do that, so he reached out to grab Howard for the handshake and to bitch back about his view of things.

Howard actually grabbed the front on Gard’s clothes with both hands for a second, then backed away. That, along with both guys jawing at each other, escalated the situation and then other players and coaches got together as things started to get out of hand. Then Juwan smacked Krabbenhoff on the head, and things went from bad to worse.

I don’t see Gard getting any more than a fine for his role. I’m guessing that Howard will get far less punishment than he deserves.
