TSUN -13.5 at Purdue (ov/un 62.5), Noon ET, BTN

the next two weeks are going to suck......oh well. ugly game today out of the offense. way to many turnovers. It was only Purdue, but the defense played good enough. Not allowing a TD on defense is still pretty good for as awful as they've been all season.

doesn't matter. they've let anybody and everybody score on them this season. Downplay it as much as you want, it was still the best effort of the season.
It definitely was in that they didn't allow the types of gaffes they have for three years now. But, being that it's not in my constitution to give scUM any credit, that was the worst gaggle-fuck of QBs they've faced in years. They made the Threet/Sheridan monster look efficient. With a mediocre QB, they win that game by 2 TDs.

Wasn't it a similarly ugly game out of Purdue's offense? They had 5 turnovers too, just like UM.

That Purdue offense is beyond putrid. Do you have any idea how many injuries they've had this year?

still kept a Big 10 team out of the endzone. As putrid as the defense has been, it's an accomplishment.

Do you consider winning the lottery an accomplishment or just being present when good fortune smiles upon you?

I would classify being on defense while Purdue's 3rd/4th stringers run into each other in the backfield all day long more as being present when good fortune smiles than actually accomplishing something.

If, on the other hand, that does pass for accomplishment these days then Bill Martin is more magnificent than I thought.

I can understand how UM fans look at that game as a mini accomplishment for their D. They have not had much to be proud of on that side of the ball for a few years now. Any thing that can be perceived as good the D does they will take as a big deal (even if the rest of us can shoot many holes through it).

Those of us who can watch that game without the bias of being a fan of that team (just threw up in my mouth a little there, ugh!) can actually see through the BS and objectively say that the D did absolutely nothing special because the Purdue O made so many mistakes that an average HS D could have had the same performance against them. Running into each other in the back field, a QB with a bum hand trying to throw in the rain, the horrible playcalling, etc.

This UM team has the top two teams in the Big Ten up next on their schedule, and if their D plays the way it did on Saturday there will be many broken remotes and tvs throughout the mitten state.

Let them revel in their win right now, no matter how bad they actually played. They really don't have much else to hang their hats on.
