I have seen this talk about Big 10 expansion. How would you guys feel about added Troy to the conference? We have been a very good football team since moving to I-A in 2000. We have won 4 conference titles and have gone to 4 bowl games, went 9-3 this year, and will face Central Bidirectional University in the GMAC bowl this year. We produced Demarcus Ware, Osi Umenyoira, Leodis McKelvin, etc. I know we lost to you guys 28-10? last year? but how do you feel about our school joining? if thats a possibility?

You guys have done a nice job building a program, but your addition to the Big Ten just isn't realistic for a variety of reasons: geography, academics (particularly graduate), facilities, alternative options, etc. I think Troy is one of those teams that should be included in a mid-major realignment to create another BCS-caliber conference, though.

The Big Ten has a rule about members being in states that are adjacent to one another.

And the University Presidents take the academic aspects of a university very seriously.

What they said.

You might want to try taking a small step up to the C-USA before taking the giant leap into a BCS conference; it worked well for Cincinnati and Louisville. In C-USA, you'd have some nice natural rivalries with UAB, Southern Miss, Tulane, and Memphis, plus with Houston, SMU, Rice, and UTEP in your conference, you'd have instant ties to the fertile recruiting grounds in the state of Texas.

Besides, if you joined the Big Ten, then all of your players would instantly become big, slow, fat, farm boys, and your coach would have an uncontrollable urge to run 50 off-tackle plays every game.

And trust me, your kids won't want to play a game in Madison or East Lansing in November.
