Troy Smith and Ted Ginn Jr.

On Troy Smith:

A poor man’s Vince Young … for now. Smith finished fourth in the nation in passing efficiency -- throwing for 2,282 yards and 16 touchdowns to just four interceptions -- and rushed for 611 yards and 11 touchdowns. Smith has a penchant for the big game, as evidenced by his combined stats the last two years against Michigan (541 yards passing with three touchdowns and 182 yards and two touchdowns on the ground) and his MVP performance in the Fiesta Bowl (342 yards passing and two touchdowns and another 82 yards on the ground).

On Ted Ginn Jr:

It's become pretty obvious that blowing up in a nationally-televised BCS game can increase your juice a bit (see: Vince Young). Ginn ran circles around Notre Dame's defense in Sun Devil Stadium, catching eight balls for 167 yards and a touchdown and adding a 68-yard score on a reverse for good measure. Although Ginn's a bit undersized (6-feet, 175 pounds), he boasts true track speed having been a national champion in the 110 high hurdles in high school.

#4 - Paul Posluzny (third or fourth best LB in the big ten last year)
#3 - Dwayne Jarrett (ok)
#2 - Brady Quinn (puhleeeze)
#1 - Adrian Peterson (On his jock again???)

Others of note:

#9 - Jeff Samardzija
#12 - Levi Brown
#13 - Michael Bush
#14 - Kenny Irons

I have no problem with Brady Quinn being in the top 3. Another year under Weiss should only help them.

Man, all this mid-winter stuff only makes me want the season to begin even sooner.

Edit: Needed more caffeine before I posted.

Brady Quinn #2 & Jeff Samardizja #9 vs. Troy Smith #5 & Ted Ginn #11...

...give me Smith and Ginn every day of the week and "twice on Saturdays" ...not even a contest in my mind (not that I'm biased). :osu:

Yeah, because Quinn and Samardizja clearly showed up Smith and Ginn when they recently met....:roll2:

But I don't have a problem with Peterson being in the top 5, because after watching him play against Oregon I believe he can be an impacting runner. The man runs like he's freaking possessed.

With that said, I'd still take Antonio Pittman and Chris Wells over him  .

Out of curiosity, who would you put #1 and where would you put Peterson?

As much as I love Troy, and hope to see him holding the Heisman, Peterson IS a BEAST and is my preseason pick. He played hurt most of last year behind a weak line, with no other threats on offense. He will return to form and be huge again this year.

Purely hypothetical here, but what kind of numbers would Troy need to win the Heisman? Or I guess if he were to win it, how would he win it?

Well Crouch's numbers sucked as far as passing so it depends. If he leads OSU to the NC then he won't need to put up out of this world stats but if OSU only goes 8-4 or so then he would probably need 3,000 yards and 800 yards rushing and probably 30 total touchdowns. It mostly depends on what the other candidates do. If he has heroic drives like against scUM then that will definitely boost his status. There's no clear cut answer.
