Trouble with Westinghouse Monitor Sound

BuckeyeMafia

A Leaf on the Wind
I was playing an Xbox 360 on my Westinghouse monitor the other day- and the sound abruptly stopped. I have checked the wiring, and have let the monitor cool down. The Xbox is not the problem either, because it works fine on my big screen. I am wondering what could be the problem here, and if there is an easy fix?

Thanks all.

What type of audio inputs does the monitor have? Have you tried hooking up something else to it and see if you get sound?

Could have just fried the speakers or somethin.

I don't have much else to hook up to it.

I did have to buy a sound adapter for it a few years ago so the red/white cords could go into the sound input, because it's just a single jack audio hookup regularly.

Do you have speakers for your PC? I plug my sound coming from my xbox into my pc as a audio input.

I use this along with an HDMI cable(plugged into monitor).

And I use this to for the sound that is plugged into my pc.

My guess would be either the adapter went bad (cheaper to pick one of those up and try it first.) Second would be the speakers/internal sound components in the monitor.

I do not own a PC. Just laptops. The monitor is used as a backup TV for the 360, nothing else. I was playing Alan Wake and the sound wasn't exactly "blaring" when it suddenly halted.

I don't know why the components would be dead, the monitor is only about 3 years old and is used to being played at sound 20/100. Recently I upped it to 80/100, but it's not like any video game is loud enough to even be heard from the next room over.. so I don't think it'd be the components. I was looking for a simpler solution to what could be wrong. Thanks BM.

Thanks for the help fellas.

Well not necessarily did you blow the speakers or anything. Hell anything can crap out for no reason. you know it isnt the 360, so its either the cables from the 360, the adapter, or the actual sound hardware in the monitor. I dont think it is a simple problem being that is just crapped out in the middle of a game.
