Correction

The way JT designs the offense, is that he wants it to be mistake free and opportunistic. Scrambling ability and mobility is not central to JT's offense. I stand corrected, though I believe that anytime a quarterback has the ability to make plays happen with his legs it creates better offensive opportunities, and that makes for a better offense.

Excellent point. The only thing I think I can say with a 100% confidence from listening to Tress is his oft repeated mantra:

1. 250 yards rushing & 250 yards passing per game
2. Win the turnover battle

Obviously, those goals might be a wee bit unrealistic by 100-total yards, but as we've seen with the defense (and Nuge), usually 150/150 will get the job done, or at least has in the past.

Huuuuuuuuuuuuuust(on)

BuckeyeFROM scUM had posted a quick clip of a scramble run by Zwick against NC State in which he looked suprisingly fast. Granted, he's no Troy Smith in that area, but he wasn't all that bad and you can be guaranteed that he'll be working on his running from the pocket.

Tressel is rich enough I think money is well down the list of his motivating factors: if he does get that 200K (his only athletic bonus) for making the NC game, I bet a big chunk of it goes to his assistants. And don't forget the 100K he can earn in academic bonuses, on top of his 1.5M compensation.

thats what i think. people act like he has a certain scheme that he needs to win...without it then he cant be as effective. total BS. give him pennington and moss then he will pass. give him peterson and that OLine and he will run. hes not just going to say "well im Tressel and we only play Tressel-ball.....so chad pennington you are going to hand the ball of 90% of the game."

the only senior "captain" that i found dissapointing was ross. outside of that i thought the captains were adequate. fox' impact was massive. you can really see how important he was to the rest of the guys when he was out with a broken arm.

remember guys, leadership isn't something you can measure on a stat sheet. mathews was one of the bigger leaders of the 04 team and as i recall, according to his stat sheet he sucked.

i remember a guy named napolean or some such who i wouldn't put money on in a fistfight against a blind midget. but you put him at the head of a column... psshhh only way to stop him is with a shoe maker. *shrug*

People know what he doesn't want in the offense. Turnovers and mistakes.

Anything that could add a new dimension to his offense, I'll bet he'll be ectactic about.

i'm not going to attempt to persuade you otherwise, because if you still feel this way after watching our offense the last 3 years, there is no convincing otherwise.........but i will say that there are tons of people who would disagree with this statement, including myself...........square peg/round hole, and the numbers don't lie, although i give credit for finding a way to get Ginn more involved at the end of the year

Actually, I had predicted they'd lose 2 games in 2002, and thought we'd make a run at the national title in 2003. It was 2003 that I predicted they'd run the table. So, I was off by two games each year. Thus, for 2004, I split the difference and said we'd lose only one game, and we saw what happened...no more one-loss predictions. :biggrin:

I really think we have a great shot at running the table this year, and that we won't lose more than two games in the regular season.
