    Berkeley's infamous tree-sitters have been hit with a rude surprise since they came down to earth: Judges are socking them with thousands of dollars in fines and legal fees.

    "It's really vindictive," said an attorney for some the sitters, Dennis Cunningham. "They don't have this kind of money."

    Maybe they should've thought of that before making a nuisance of themselves?

    UC Berkeley estimates it spent more than $800,000 on police and other security measures during the 22 months sitters were up in the trees.

    Next time, give them one warning then fire up the chainsaw.

    The whole thing was such a nuisance.

    We're talking about 24 hour police patrol over this tiny patch of land. SUCH a waste of money. But no worries, while these cops were standing around these fucking tree sitters, our campus and town around campus has become one of the most dangerous campuses in the country.

    Can't walk down the goddamn street at night alone - not an exaggeration.
