Lionel's Santa Fe Superchief
Schwinn black panther bike
Decent football and basketball
I was never without the basics of food, clothes, my own room, but my parents were from the school that a ball was a ball. My football was shaped more like a rugby ball and bounced like a superball. My basketball was just as bad. When I was finally old enough to get a paper route a voit football was my first purchase.

Kind of like Cinci, my parents were of the mindset that if you had clean undies, pants and a shirt and something to eat you were golden. I always wanted leather bball shoes, but all I got was canvas Converse. Of course, those are way cool now.

I remember when the first video game came out "Pong" and my buddy got it, ooooh how I wanted that. Never happened.

I wanted a nice set of golf clubs other than what my dad bought me, so I caddied and caddied and caddied until I could buy my first set. They were a used set of Hogan Apex Irons that I got from a guy I caddied for and then I bought Powerbuilt persimmon woods. My wife wonders why I still have them....

I come from an extremely rare background
but I desperately wanted a mitt with a hand strap

I was lucky enuf to play organized ball since I was 8
the mitt I had was a hand-me-down; hand-me-down, hand-me-down ... so very old... and one of my older brothers was playing tug with our German Shepard.. who ripped the wrist strap right off the glove.. half-way into the season

I was the shortstop.. and when I'd have to reach to catch a shot or hot grounder the mitt would fall off my hand... so they moved me to center field.. and I stayed there the rest of my baseball years

when I was 14 an older sister bought me a new glove.. probably the first new glove anyone in my family had seen for 20 years...
I was SO pumped
