*These are always a pain to edit--doesn't work for me. I hit an odd key and it posted prematurely (premature posturation?) Anyway, it's a frivolous poll. And, maybe a tad nostalgic. After all, we only get so many Christmases and New Years. It's always a little less bright and colorful when they're over.

i.e., earlier I had the last coconut Ferrero Roche, end of the Christmas candy. It got me thinking about the last thing you do to put the holidays to rest for another year. I've known people who took trees down on Dec. 26th. I don't--It's still up. And, there's always that slow, sad dimming of the neighbor's Christmas lights, as one after another of them goes out for the last time, and the winter nights go dark again. I'm not touching those suckers until around January 8th, when it's supposed to be above freezing for a whole day.

So, are there still signs of the Holidays at your house? What's left?

Last official thing is taking the tree down (and putting it away since I'm a vintage Evergleam aluminum tree man), which I always do on NY Day.

Since we always do British Christmas pudding with brandy butter, I make way more brandy butter than is necessary, which becomes the base for hot buttered rums until it runs out. So I guess my last hot buttered rum of January will be my last tie to this Christmas past.

Taking down the cool solar powered Christmas lights outside. The traditional thing in New Mexico are "farolitos" little candles in sand filled paper bags. But they are a pain to make and take care of. So LEDs powered by the sun lights are coming into favor for their ease of use. And the LED lights are programmable! Some keep them up all year. I'm tempted to do just that!
