tOSU's BCS Bowl possibilities

I don't think the Buckeyes will be in any BCS bowl this year, and playing YSU won't have anything to do with it (although I hope we never play a I-AA school again). The results versus UF, LSU and USC will have something to do with it.

I'm not convinced we'll go 10-2, but even if we do there will be plenty of sentiment against us getting a BCS bid given the losses the last couple years. Butts in the seat matter, though, so that'll help us but if the feeling is we're going to get blown out the TV guys won't want us in one of those games.

Considering only one school has won more BCS bowls than tOSU (USC), it's ridiculous how we get disrespected, but like it or not it's out there.

Whatever bowl we play, we better show up for it. That includes a New Year's game versus an SEC team. If we get smoked, the bashing will only get worse.

I don't think there's a sentiment against us for a BCS bowl game, provded it isn't the title game.

+1 (even though some around here would accuse us "of buying into the media hype")

I don't really care if I'm accused of that, because I've watched Florida and Penn State both quite a bit this year. I've seen Florida dominate much better competition and lose a close one against a competitive team, and I saw Penn State dominate bad competition and struggle against our under-achieving Buckeyes this year. Dominating good/very good competition and getting upset by a solid team > dominating bad teams and struggling against the Buckeyes, but not losing. IMO.

Couldn't disagree with you more. Illinois I can buy. Packing it in against Michigan, never. Sure, Michigan could win but not by the team "packing it in".
I think he meant that we might get down early against Illinois and just think only about the Michigan game that is coming up the next week. I don't see it happening, not after Illinois beat us last year.

If we win out and State Penn wins out, we will go to the Rose Bowl. We have a loyal fan base that travels well on our side and high ratings for our prime time games (USC and State Penn) this year.

Penn State could win out and be out of the title game. They need some help. I think they'll get it, but at this point they won't be in unless at least one team ahead of them loses.

It won't be as passionate, but there will absolutely be one if it's OSU vs a b12/sec 2nd place team. Aren't there only 2 at large bids?

If OrSU makes the Rose Bowl, then you'll have a lineup like Southern Cal, Texas, Oklahoma, Florida & others to beat out for an at-large spot.

I guess I worded that wrong.

I meant to say that they would pack it in against Illinois and look forward to the Michigan game early.....

I don't think we'll be looking ahead to a shitty ass scUM team. Illinois beat us last year and it'll be a road game. I'm more worried about our mindset against scUM. I think we'll win no matter what because they're just that bad but it could be closer than it should.

only 2 at large Jwins? 5 BCS bowls * 2 teams per bowl = 10 teams - 6 auto conference bids = 4 at large bids.

BB73:
I noticed in the first page in the case of #1 Alabama facing a #2 Texas Tech you have the Sugar bowl selecting Texas. According to the
selection process the Fiesta would actually have to release Texas to the Sugar Bowl. I don't see that happening.

Other than that great stuff.
