Game Thread tOSU vs. Virginia Tech, Sept 6th @ 8pm ET, ESPN & ESPN3 Skycam

[ent. tech rant] Looks like bad placement of the fog machines and not starting them early enough. Looks like they had them farther away from the tunnel, they should be right at the entrance or even slightly inside for the greatest effect. If that's how they're going to do it, then please don't do it again. [/tech rant]

That's fair, but as someone else noted I'd say it cuts both ways. We appear to have some openings for people to step in and potentially play.

I'll have to go back and look at the recruit visit list that MD posted, the only name that came immediately to mind with this one was Josh Sweat. Certainly that's a big deal. But I wonder how much single losses cost you on the recruiting side of things.

Still, very fair point.

True.. but those same recruits could look at the offensive play calling and lack of adjustments and go nah.. don't think so.

Kids don't look at such things. They look at getting to the NFL. They look at atmosphere. They look at uniforms and style of offense. They look at coaches. They look at education(or at least their parents do). This is what most recruiting experts say.

Were you at the game? I was. On the 35 yard line in C deck looking right down onto the field. They had several third down plays where the receiver caught the ball with a Buckeye defender at least 2-3 yards away. That is wide fucking open.

What were their passing stats on 3rd down? I could care less about 200 yards passing. I care about the passes on the plays that either get the defense off of the field or kept them on the field.
I stated outside of third down were we for whatever reason played zone and gave them space.

They averaged 5 yards a freaking throw. They need to tighten up on third down, And get off the field but I felt outside of those two things played pretty good. Not great but good

Interesting take on effects of playing Navy:

"Since 2009, when Ohio State played the first game of this two-game Navy series, 18 power conference opponents have played Navy one week and come back against a major college opponent the next week. (Only Maryland smartly slipped in a lower-level week of recovery, besting Morgan State 62-3 the week after Navy in 2010.)

Those 17 teams are 8-10 in the week after the Midshipmen."

Well I was going to go back and review the game as painful as that would be, but ESPNU's replay of the game was worthless. They basically show the last two plays of each drive...2 hours long, about an hour and a half of commercials.
