Game Thread tOSU vs. Virginia Tech, Sept 6th @ 8pm ET, ESPN & ESPN3 Skycam

Only positive takeaway from this is that JT looks legit. He got absolutely no help whatsoever from pretty much anyone on offense. Defense looked...a little better than last year. They were awful on 3rd downs but there weren't a lot of horrible breakdowns like last year. I think VA Tech just made a lot of plays. Still, a LOT of work to do this season.

Offensive scheme is inexcusable. Great programs dont hold players back like this. Open it up and let them play. If they lose then its because they were outplayed and not out coached and held back. Let them play and make legit mistakes.run your entire playbook for fuck sake. No excuse for this.

I think it's a lot more about some really bad OL recruiting for a few years catching up to us. There's a few kids (not gonna name names) that we took on that have no business on a tOSU roster. Part of it was the JT fallout in 2011. Part of it was the overall OL recruiting we lamented for years. We have two converted DL starting for fucks sake. Need guys like Knox and Jemarco Jones to get ready quickly.

Would have loved to see....a screen, or a draw, or at least showing a hint of a TE release to keep some of the outside backers halfway honest.

J.T. has a lot of guts to stand in there after 7 sacks and under constant pressure. He didn't look rattled or scared, he stood tall which is pretty dang impressive since you'd think he would have had to get banged up somewhere in there.

Can we start a fund raiser to hire Bud Foster away from VT??? Not hating on the staff (well, not hating on the defensive staff) but that D was fun to watch by them.

I have never seen a more poorly coached game in my life. There was no growth, and just like last week, they were woefully unprepared. Did they watch tapes of VT? No running game and yet, constant play action. Some success with the run, and then went away from it. Tremendous pressure on our young QB, yet kept putting him in difficult positions with long throws.

I'm perplexed at this offensive coaching. I have no idea what their rationale was. No idea at all.
