tOSU vs. Penn State, Wed 1/29 @ 7p ET, BTN

I don't know for sure - maybe Matta is hoping that Amir will get himself into position and call for the ball like Oden/Sully/Dials would have done in the same situation.

Is it hope or an expectation? I prefer to give Matta the benefit of the doubt and say it's the latter. Matta has proven over the years to be a pretty good coach. Players like Williams in the meantime have not yet proven that they are capable of asserting themselves when the opportunity arises. I think that Matta is trying to extract that kind of play/attitude by putting him in those situations. It's up to the player to respond.

I'm sure it's an expectation, but maybe he's hoping the light will come on for Williams soon. but it's clear his team mates aren't really looking for him to be part of the offense on some possessions and he knows it, stands around, and isn't involved unless a rebound bounces his way.

Agreed re: teammates. The passive approach he shows in those situations is the opposite of what he needs to be doing. When he has a size advantage he needs to demand the ball like any good big man would.

Another team less talented than tOSU but more physical is giving our team trouble. We look great against teams that dont play physical D...probably why they are summer league ALL_Stars, but once the conference starts we dont looktough enough.

We have athleticism, but as far as "talent" I think it's not what we're accustomed to in recent years. No physical presence inside, limited offensive ability outside. That's being exploited in the B1G in ways we didn't see in the OOC.
