Game Thread tOSU vs. Kent State, Sept 13th @ 12pm ET, ABC or ESPN2

I'll take what I can get and be grateful. It's Buckeye Football.

No doubt. Did I feel that way Saturday night or Sunday morning? Hell no. But you regroup and realize that every time you get a chance to watch Buckeye football, it is a damn good day. I am pumped to watch this game and get back on track

I would not want to be Kent State going up against the D-line today.

Not going to post a prediction, because...well...that just hasn't worked so far lol.

That being said, here is a list of things I want to see this week:

- Kwon getting the start at Mike. I understand Curtis has played pretty well against the run, but if I have to see him drop in coverage anymore, I'm going to lose it. Time for the young Buck to get some experience.

- All of the RBs getting carries. As I mentioned before, I find it extremely hard to believe that we don't have a short yardage back....Rod Smith & Brionte Dunn, this is geared towards you. All of the talk about the great camp they each had, it's time to show it on the field....at least give them the opportunity.

- Screens, screens & more screens. Even if the OL can't execute one, with all the talk about how good the WRs can block, put it to use....

- Johnnie Dixon getting significant PT.....no doubt the kid has the talent & even if he is a little raw, I don't think a solid amount of PT against Kent State is going to hurt.

- Taking the points on 4th & short on the opponent's side of the 50 (provided they're in FG range). Nuernberger has a strong leg & I think he's going to be a good one by the time he leaves. Time to build his confidence back up after an ugly first game in The Shoe.

- A large lead in the second half, which provides time for Cardale to get some PT. No doubt JT took a beating last week, god forbid something happens to him, I'd like Cardale to have some game reps under his belt and I don't mean just running the ball....

That's all for now....I may add to the list as the week goes on.

I agree with most of this. It will also be interesting to see if any redshirts get burned in this one.

I disagree a bit with the bolded part though. I'm not discounting the need to build the kicker's confidence, but they also need to build the OL and RBs' confidence in short yardage situations. I wouldn't treat those situations any differently than normal.

Yeah I hear ya there as well. Knowing Urban Meyer, he'll go for it in those situations lol. I'd just like to see them take the points at least once to build some confidence.
