Game Thread tOSU vs. Hawaii, 12 Sep @ 3:30p ET, BTN

Hawaii gave up just under 32 ppg last year. Teams scoring the most on them were Colorado State (49 at Fort Collins) and Oregon State (38 at Honolulu). They did hold Washington to 17 points in Honolulu in the season opener, and shut out a really bad San Jose State team in San Jose. So at times they were actually fair on defense. Still, 42 points at VT should equate to about 70 against them, but with a very short week, virtually no film study, and players still banged up from Monday night, don't be surprised if we struggle to hit 50.

They scored just under 25 ppg, with the most scored being 38 at home against Wyoming. They were held under 20 points seven times. Their average scoring on the road was a bit over 15 ppg, with only one road game over 18 points (21 at Fresno State in the season finale). If they score more than 10 points, I'm going to be really pissed, even with Wittek (USC transfer) at QB.

Just to add a little to Mililani's perspective. Wittek was 19/38 for 202 yards, 3 td's, 2 picks. One of his touchdowns was a 79 yarder where the receiver shook off the db. That means the rest of his passes averaged roughly 5 yards per play. UH averaged a little less than 3 yards per play in the run game. Might I remind you that this was against Colorado. Colorado averaged 4 yards per play in the run game, and a guy named Adkins ran for 90 yards and 2 scores. The CU QB ran for 80 yards. I'm thinking that the Buckeyes skill players might get a little more than that.

Chow will get a pass for this game and Wisconsin, but there is a lot of discontent around town. Attendance is low, recruiting has been taking a hit, and UH recently hired a new AD. If things don't turn around quick, and I mean really quick, I expect the new AD to make a move.

I'm a noted cautionary and I can't even think of a way to see this one being pretty for Hawaii. I think Cardale, Braxton, and Zeke are all going to pad some stats for their Heisman bids. Really excited to see Bosa, Jalin, Dontre, and Smith all back. Now we get a real look at the '15 Buckeyes.
