Don't we always have the annual BBQ "discussion" during BYE week?
I'll show myself out now.

Ah, C & G, and the week day special: 25 cents for a close to frozen Stroh's and a buck for a plain cheese pizza. As long as you didn't look into the kitchen, everything was fine.
Yup, me too. Did you forget ever frequent the Travel Agency and/or Serene Lounge?......
Actually, I had my pregame meal (i.e. Hawaiian Pizza) last Saturday above the former site of the "North Berg"
(i.e. Donatos' basement):
My first apartment was just a block up 9th Ave. it’s not there anymore either. But the South Berg used to have a great lunch special where you could get a sub, chips, and soda for just a few bucks. And they made a good sub.
I spent more nights there than I could count. Monday nights when Local Color played used to be the big night. Then Dave Katz started hosting an open mic night on Wenesdays, John Mullins joined in (RIP John), and soon Ekoostik Hookah was born. Then Wednesdays were the big night. I was there to witness all of that evolution. I saw some other Ohio jam bands there like Oroboros out of Cleveland and the River Runt Spookfloaters out of Cincinnati. They did a good cover of Steely Dan’s Josie.
Met some girls there. Shot pool. Smoked pot in the restroom or at the top of the back stairs. I can’t remember who was playing on Friday, June 17, 1994, but I saw the white Bronco carrying OJ Simpson getting chased by the cops on the tv monitor in the bar. I didn’t really understand the magnitude of the story until I got home. Heck, I wasn’t even living on campus anymore at that point. I was living off Bethel Rd. and working at CompuServe. I wonder who that band was. I suppose it had to be Hookah.
Yup, I paid twenty-one bucks for a home student season's ticket in the fall of 1967. Great times at the C & G Pizza and South Berg.
My friends, this is too much nostalgia for a Thursday evening......ain't it great!!!!
Next thing you know, somebody is gonna bring up fishbowls of beer and pizza at The Venetian. O Sole mio................
Yup, went to Serene and Travel Agency. We stayed away from The Lemon Drop, nearly next door to the old BBF at the south end of campus. That was a roughhouse. Cruiser there every night. The football players seemed to like it a lot.
Anybody go to The Castle? Remember when they opened up it was coat and tie?
Thanks for that stroll down Memory Lane. The Blue Dube is gone. Best damned pork cutlet meal in town.
Anybody go to The Castle?
I don’t recall Quizno’s while I was in school. I had one of their subs once sometime after that. Once. I wasn’t impressed. It’s hard to find good subs in Columbus.Remember those great Quisno's subs, near the corner of High and Shittenden? Damn, I never could remember how to spell Chittenden.
We were in Roma for the World Cup when OJ tried to outrun the law. Best caffe, pizza e pasta I've ever had. Most of it was casereccia, homemade. Stayed with my best friend's family just outside of Roma. Irish and Italy played in a knockout match on the last Saturday we were there. Downtown, just outside of a bar, with the streets deserted, was a table of Irish and Italians drinking wine and singing songs together.
I am reasonably sure we probably ran into each other at least a couple times, given this. LolMy first apartment was just a block up 9th Ave. it’s not there anymore either. In my day it was called the Agora.
The Travel Agency was right across the street.
I did go to The Castle a few times. The Castle changed to Agora in 1970 which became The Newport Music Hall in 1984. The owners claim is it the longest continuously running rock-and-roll club in the country and it is celebrating its 50th anniversary this year (i.e. 2020).

I could well be wrong, but didn’t The Agora replace The Castle in the old Neth’s State movie house building?
