I actually hope the game is played at West Point. The location of that stadium overlooking the Hudson & nestled in the foothills of the adjoining Ramapo mountains is simply breathtaking.

If the game does end up being played at the campus I can absolutely guarantee I will be there.

While it probably won't be a close game, I think it's a game that is good for college football given the history of the two programs involved.

However add me to the list of folks who find the recruiting benefits from nearby Highland Falls to be umm...minimal.

The Army-Navy game is played at the Meadowlands, I believe.

Yes, but only once every few years. It was there in '90, '94, '98, and '03.

It's usually in Philadelphia, and will be there in '06 and '08. They meet in Baltimore next year.

I think the recruiting value is media driven: anybody who has spent any time around NYC realizes that their local media discount (ignore) anything that happens over 100 miles away from there (if not closer!). Buckeyes playing at West Point or in the Meadowlands will get lots of local (NY, NJ, etc.) exposure for tOSU. That COULD be the difference for Tress getting a couple of 4 or 5* guys from that area who would otherwise have not have seriously considered going to Columbus.

Why does everyone think this is about recruiting? In case you've missed it, Ohio State has a lot of alumni on both coasts, and a game like this is a chance to play in front of quite a few who would otherwise never make it back to Columbus.

Alumni are also known to occasionally donate money back to their alma mater.

So yes, this is all so that Sushi can go see a game.

No, but you need quality filler on your team to have a good scout squad, you need those B+ recruits to fill the scout team and everynow and a then one of those B+ recruits turn out to be a stud, ie Hawk, lil Animal ect.

No coach in America thinks of his scout team possibilities when recruiting...

There is no such thing as "filler" when discussing scholarship athletes...they either have the potential to contribute on the field or they are not recruited.

Just glanced at the 2010 schedule and wondered whose bright idea it was to end the season like this:

Sat 11/06/2010 Penn State Columbus, Ohio TBA
Sat 11/13/2010 Iowa Iowa City, Iowa TBA
Sat 11/20/2010 Michigan Columbus, Ohio TBA

Brutal. Darn good thing 2 of those are at home

What do you think the odds are that all 3 of those schools have new coaches by then?

I think it's neat to go up there and play.

I've always wondered why we haven't played many of the service academies during the regular season in the past.

West Point's campus is beautiful in the fall as well.

A nice game for all of the NE OSU alumni.

I like the idea.
