I would argue that there are plenty of those right here in good ol' Ohio, but I don't want to be called :nerd:

I agree that we have a ton here in ohio, thats why we have a couple in state games against weaker Ohio. Away games are not football games, they are recruiting oppertunities. A small town kid sees Ohio State roll into his town 60,000 strong, that kid will want to be apart of the team, in spirit or sport.

You feeling me now?

No, but you need quality filler on your team to have a good scout squad, you need those B+ recruits to fill the scout team and everynow and a then one of those B+ recruits turn out to be a stud, ie Hawk, lil Animal ect.
Tressel brings in tons of sleepers already... so why change what's working? He also has a very strong walk-on program thanks to his pattern of awarding schollies to the best.
We arent losing anyone to Marshall or Army, but why not get a few more decent guys?
There's this thing called the scholarship limit...

I honestly have no idea what your point is. Are there pools of undiscovered talent that will suddenly flock to OSU because we play Army?

95% of the time, at HOME.

Do you know something about the talent pool surrounding the Army campus? Or are you just assuming this will be a wonderful bonus of playing Army?

Just glanced at the 2010 schedule and wondered whose bright idea it was to end the season like this:

Sat 11/06/2010 Penn State Columbus, Ohio TBA
Sat 11/13/2010 Iowa Iowa City, Iowa TBA
Sat 11/20/2010 Michigan Columbus, Ohio TBA

Brutal. Darn good thing 2 of those are at home

then you'll hate the schedule for 2009. same ending... just flip the venues.

Jeez people, am I the only one here that understands recruiting? You can never have enough quality players, even if you cant use them, dont let them go to another school.

And yes you are always trying to build a fan base. Its not to say every guy out at West Point is great, it goes for every town we stop in or comes to OSU. That one great player may not have came to OSU if we had played the college near him.

How is this so hard. I am not saying we are losing anyone. But if we get a couple good guys we would have not got before?

Maybe I cant explain it well enough, someone else wanna take a stab. You know Tressel is a recruiter kind of guy.

With 85 scholarships, that's a pretty difficult standard to live up to.

You will have to sacrifice a few current buckeyes in order to land these future stars from west point.

I have no idea what that means.
I know, do you want 50 A players, 15 B players, 15 C players, 5 D players, or 51 A players, 18 B players, 17 C players?
So by playing West Point, we are suddenly going to do a better job landing players and not offering kids that won't pan out?

Your hypothetical seems to be a bit off... Scenario B manages to land the most A, B & C players without making any mistakes (D players). Did you mean would you rather have Scenario A (go for elite recruits, but miss on some) or Scenario B (fill up your class with steady sleepers)?

Hahaha there is some funny stuff here...

Personally I would like to have a scout team full of A, A- players then stealing a C player from West Virginia or Army....

I would say quite trying to defend your logic when there is nothing there to defend.
