Game Thread tOSU @ Virginia Tech, Sep 7 2015 @ 8pm ET, ESPN

If history means anything then the Big Ten will more often than not have it's championship game played a week before the CCG. That's the problem. Michigan and Ohio State in the same division creates an imbalance and that imbalance is increased when Penn state is added to it.
Penn State is basically Nebraska. Their decade is over and gone. They have a big name, big stadium, big fan base, but they are still a 'regional' program. I don't expect Franklin to last that long there, and he'll leave, and the program will be established as a stepping stone. Crazy fan base in a crazy town with an administration that still is in love with JoePa. They might rise back up, but I doubt it will be until after the next expansion, and if the next expansion picks up two eastern teams, we could end up in the west with MSU, Wisky, Nebraska and ttun. Then you'll talk about how stacked the west is.
Face it, wherever OSU is will be the stacked side. Made worse by the fact that ttun is like a dog humping our leg that we can't shake off, they just follow us everywhere.

1) Did you post this in the wrong thread? Penn State stuff?

2) Penn State has a much better base to recruit from in their region than Nebraska.

1. Yes, most definitely. The question is, "was it accidental?"
2. Did you post this point in the wrong thread? Again, the answer is yes. And, I doubt yours was accidental

This is the worst VT game thread ever.

As expected it's at night. I know many of us are going to expect pure domination on our part but I for one will be very surprised if we school Vtech.

Their defense will be IMO the best we face all year. I have a good buddy who loves the hokies as much as I love our buckeyes and they do return their entire Dline, and their corners. They do lose their safety's and no matter what my buddy says (which is they sucked anyways) you don't lose your safety's and get better. Their dline vs our oline is going to be awesome and with how bad we got beat up front last year I'd imagine the redemption factor will play in for our guys. In saying that it's at night, in lane stadium (very loud for a stadium of it's capacity), and with a team hyped to play the defending national champions.

The deciding factor? They lose a couple guys up front on the Oline and one of their penciled starters (according to my vetch buddy) is someone who got owned all year at tackle and someone who he's very nervous about. I think this game will be a lower scoring affair with our guys coming out on top because I think our defensive front will control the game against their new/shaky oline. I think it'll be close at the half and perhaps even with tech leading but in the end we will find a way to come away with the victory. Something like 31-24 wouldn't surprise me at all considering how well tech normally plays in opening games (although they normally lose).

I went to their USC game at FedEx field a while back and even though they were huge underdogs they really should've won that game against Reggie Bush/Matt Lienart/Mike Williams/ Lyndell White. I recall them being up at the half as well in that game. They also completely shut down Bama a few years ago, should've beat Boise, and there was another one they blew as well that I'm blanking on. Bottom line? They play well when given a chance to prepare as they normally have something different to show the opening game. Bud Foster IMO should be the head coach of that program as I think he's one of the best Coordinators in college football and I expect his defense to be up to the challenge. However, I don't see their offense doing much. Especially with another year in our system and with a very athletic front 7 which I'm sure most will agree is projected to be better than last year.-

I believe the Buckeyes are going to have a convincing win vs. Va Tech. But I don't think it will be the beatdown we all want it to be for one reason: CFB teams in general, and OSU in particular, do not usually look like world-beaters in the first game of the year. The mistake we are inclined to make is assuming that the team that rolled Oregon in Jan is the same team that is going to show up in Blacksburg in Sept. It's not. There will be first game execution mistakes, and this will be a different team with different pressures and expectations on it. I do think this team has fewer question marks going in, but there will still be kinks that will have to be worked out.

Fortunately for our Buckeyes, the same will be true for the Hokies. In the end OSU wins by 3 TD's, but the discussion in the media will be that Ohio State looks vulnerable. I don't care. Win, get the h out of there, and continue to work toward being the best team in Nov, Dec, and Jan.
