tOSU @ Sparty, Sat Oct 8, 4:00pm, ABC

Are you seeing something about JSN? I don’t think we see him until after the week off. He’d honestly get better reps in practice with more time to heal than going against Sparty at the risk of aggravating things.
Just a feeling. I think he could have gone this week but they held him out. I think he should play some this week then have the off week to see how it feels and rest more then back full go against Iowa and on into the season. His first game back is likely to show a little rustiness so getting back against Sparty is the most forgiving.

I’m with you on that he probably _could_ have gone this week… and there’s a part of me that thinks that having someone not in S&G to go against is good practice. Almost everyone in the world I’d say bring back as early as possible to knock off some rust. JSN might be one of the few exceptions as I think he gets back to form very quickly.

I guess we’ll see! Either way, I think we all want to have him back and healthy.

To all JSN commenters. If you haven't seen and worked with an athlete who's torn a hammy, it's a serious injury. The bruise can run the length of the back of the thigh. It will also stretch 6 to 7 inches wide. The color will be deep purple, i.e. there's a lot of blood trapped in the area that must be removed before the wound can heal. A torn hammy is also a deep wound, which adds to the time it will take for full recovery. I've had runners come back after four weeks and run when taped up, but most don't get back to their pre-injury state/speed for a good 6 weeks. The pain connected with the injury lingers in the mind and the athlete might be more careful until he feels he's fully recovered.
