Radio broadcasters are meant to broadcast the game IMO. No more, no less (for me). Keels is one of the best I've heard. I understand the importance of certain events, I just want to hear how they're going down without any bullshit. I can think of nobody better at giving a no-bullshit call of a game. I can take care of the emotional side. :wink2:

We know all about your emotional side, numbers.

I was wondering if some of the revenue from this contract could be used for facility improvements. I think I read about a month ago that due to the economy they were not going to be able to add on the new basketball practice area which was to be added to the Schott.

I dont know anything about a NEW facility but their old practice facility, which is in the Schottenstein Center, was more than adequate for the Men's, and Women's team. They could probably practice at the same time it is so big.

There is a "practice gym" attached to the Schott but there were plans to add a brand new larger practice facility on the other side but those plans were set aside a few months ago because of the economy. I don't know where if they were touring to use bonds to build the new practice facility or if there was supposed to come from private funds supplemented by the athletic department funds but a new practice facility was supposed to be ready by 2010-2011.

Basically didn't Ohio State do the same thing, only 2 years earlier?

it's my understanding that, given tOSU is already an equal partner in the BTN with the rest of the B1G, this deal was tOSU cashing in on the 'leftovers' so to speak. So no, I don't think it's the same thing as Tejas and their Bevovision.

Besides, Tejas is a bag of dicks, we're not.

The point is that Texas' "leftovers" were sold just like TOSU's were. Just happens that they had more "leftovers" to sell than TOSU did since there was no Big IIIX network to give their more valuable "leftovers" to.

How many other programs, can get through a year of the worst press imaginable and while still under the watchful eye of the NCAA with a possible catastrophic sanctions looming, could sign the biggest media deal in their history? Hehehehe. That's right, eat it suckers!

Luck to have Keels?
Are you kidding.

What about that passionless, montone, made for audio books announcer do you like.

He has been present for the greatest run in buckeye sports - name one signature call.

One holy buckeye or gus johnson going ape crap.

he is "absitively" the worst. "Number #9, either Hartline or Rob Rose on the special teams tackle?.

I'd rather know what's going on than hearing an incoherent "OMG OMG OMG HE'S RUNNING TO THEHHHFDFHDU;KGHFU;IHFU;FHUFHUG;FSHG;FS"

As said, he seems to state what's happening as it's happening.

Gus Johnson is terrific for basketball, but too much for most football broadcasts.

As for classic calls from Keels, ESPN has consistently used his radio call as the background sound for OSU clips on SportsCenter during commercial lead ins/outs despite being called with great emotion by Brent on their own network.

If I want to feel the emotion, I attend the game or watch TV with a group. I listen to the radio to describe what is happening because I can't watch

no one compares to him in that regard.

is he useful on Buckeye roundtable? no, but that isn't what makes him great. it isn't like espn guys know much about the team either. even the local radio hosts have the football insight of a free board, and the delivery of a transparent troll.
