Imagine if you will...the year is 2023, it’s 3rd and 8 against TTUN and the Rushmen package includes the following:

Jack Sawyer
JT Tuimoloau
Amari Abor
Marvin Jones Jr

Sheesh!!

Implying they stop you on consecutive standard downs
I'm skeptical

For anyone excusing the concerns over Stud’s recruiting of the OT position, check out the last 5-7 minutes of this and Birm’s thoughts on the matter.

Is anyone “excusing the concern” or just saying that it’s curious that Stud could recruit elite interior guys but “can’t” recruit elite OTs. He’s also put a good product on the field. But of course it’s a concern he hasn’t landed more plan A guys at OT......but how to explain the wild extremes? It’s a difficult answer.

Ohio State picked up a bit of an unexpected commitment on Wednesday when Hollywood (Fla.) Chaminade-Madonna Prep three-star cornerback Ryan Turner announced that he has given a verbal pledge to the Buckeyes.

Turner, who was also considering both Clemson and Penn State, joins five-star cornerback Jaheim Singletary, four-star cornerback Jyaire Brown and three-star athlete Kye Stokes as defensive backs that are currently committed to Ohio State in the class of 2022. All four are obviously talented prospects, but what's interesting to note about the group is that three of the four call the Sunshine State home.

That could be design.

Over the past three years, a total of 33 defensive backs that played their senior seasons at a high school located in the state of Florida have been selected in the NFL Draft. Two of them went to Ohio State: cornerback Damon Arnette and cornerback Shaun Wade.

Most college coaching staffs are simply looking for the best talent available when they are building out a recruiting board. The Buckeyes are probably no different, but if one were simply looking to play the odds, then it would make a ton of sense to mine the Sunshine State for cornerbacks and safeties given the sheer amount of future professionals the talent-rich football hotbed has been producing at those positions in recent years.

Unless something has changed, it doesn’t sound like Ohio State will pursue Will Johnson with Linguist leaving to take the Buffalo job. The way Birm talked about it when he committed to Michigan, it sounded like they were done regardless of what happened.

I mean….ok, I guess. If it’s true that he truly was leaning Ohio St before the Linguist hire/family pressure, then you have to at least kick the tires to see how things stand currently with Linguist leaving.

I would think so, but if the staff chooses not to try to get back in it, I gotta believe there are some behind the scenes reasons. I think a lot of us message board types don't always think about secondary factors like unpublicized character issues, pain in the ass parents/handlers, etc...

The real verdict won't be in until the fall, but there's no denying that there's plenty of help on the way. Coombs signed six defensive backs for the Class of 2021. Jantzen Dunn and Denzel Burke enrolled early and have been on campus since January. The rest of the bunch – including a pair of potentially instant-impact corners in Jakailin Johnson and Jordan Hancock – will make their push for early playing time when they arrive this summer.

And the beat goes on for the Class of 2022. Ohio State is up to 12 commitments with a third of those being of the defensive back variety. Coombs is fresh off of two new pledges from the Sunshine State in cornerback Ryan Turner and athlete/safety Kye Stokes. The Buckeyes beat Clemson for Turner while Stokes is perhaps the fastest-rising player in the country. At 6-foot-2 and 185 pounds, he's received recent offers from the likes of Alabama, Florida, Georgia, and LSU. Then there's five-star Jacksonville native Jaheim Singletary and one of Ohio's very best in West Chester's Jyaire Brown.

It's safe to say that Kerry Coombs never lost his recruiting edge during his two seasons with the Tennessee Titans.
