2021 tOSU Recruiting Discussion

BPA thanks for the research, appreciate the insight... it might be fun (off topic and a relative term :)) to compare Wisky, Iowa & Bama since they they are both SEEM to be producing NFL linemen as an amazing clip...

How about guards and centers?

Probably.....Bama would tell you they led the league in mosquito bites if that would get a kid to commit. Maybe JC knew about the Brockmeyers going to Bama, maybe not, dunno. But IF they go, doesn't that shorten the odds that JC will see the field early? At tOSU, he could see the field by his RS sophomore year (unless I've woefully mis calculated), which gives him two 'money' years, and leaving as a RS junior as a Buckeye first rounder.......

MAJOR MOVEMENT IN THE TEAM RANKINGS
The biggest developments in the team rankings involve two perennial playoff contenders. We've already talked about Alabama's surge that's only going to continue over the next few weeks. The other development has been Clemson's slide. Dabo Swinney was sitting pretty at No. 2 last week, but the loss of Jordan Hancock has dropped the Tigers all the way down to No. 9.

Ryan Day still has a chance to set a new all-time record for the highest class score, but losing JC Latham to Alabama was a pretty big blow in that regard. Adding Jordan Hancock, J.T. Tuimoloau, Emeka Egbuka, and Tywone Malone would put the Buckeyes at 322.26 with 22 commitments. Florida's 2010 class holds the top score ever with 324.62 with 28 signees. Ohio State is expected to end up with 24-25 signees for the Class of 2021.

Smoked some crack during lunch this afternoon and started wondering if Hancock will recruit Barrett Carter at all?
I would assume to and if Clemson unravels a bit due to the coaching turmoil it's not far fetched if we could flip him too.

Also as for Lathem... I think we will stay on this young man. He was such a strong lean here and if we can get him on campus then look out.

Much like Hancock I think we should really stay after Lathem.

10/4 on both fronts. Nailed down Hancock and I think Latham had his heart here until the whole covid thing. I would assume the staff will keep pursuing.

Exactly... Lathem is Hancock.

If we get Lathem on campus maybe we can let him see that we lose 3 of 5 on the OL after this year and he could potentially start as a true freshman.

Based on what I’ve read (quotes from Latham), Coach Stud needs to focus on one thing. Sure, get Latham on campus, sure keep building the relationship; but what he needs to focus on is turning NPF (anyone, really) into a player that everyone calls a first round pick. Get that done before December and the Buckeyes have a chance

Will Latham care if they aren't tackles? It doesn't seem like it; Davis has had first round buzz for some time now, yet Latham made a "business decision" to go elsewhere. That suggests that he either doesn't care what happens with guards or he is unaware that Davis is being called a certain first-rounder (which seems unlikely). Hopefully, NFP fulfills his potential, Mumford has a "where did THAT come from" senior season and PJ has a year as a backup that has people talking about him "continuing the legacy".

thayer Munford wouldn’t feasibly have to have a “come out of nowhere” season to still be a first or second all-conferencer this season. Just a slight improvement would get him there. It’d be cool to see him get to first or second round draft consideration.

Which would make 3 of our 5 in the first round which I too think is possible.

Anyways Lathem IMO was just such a foregone conclusion to OSU at one point. That I have a hard time believing there won't be a push from OSU again if we can somehow have a season and have visitors again.
