Robinson, Ringo, and Ransom are his top targets. I believe we get two and UGA gets the other. On a side note... Day is just taking Hermans lunch money right now and I would be absolutely shocked if we don't land Robinson too.
I am projecting Ohio State to finish 4th in the final team rankings (at least based on the current individual rankings, which will change over time). The Cooper commitment moves to within less than a point of LSU for #3 in the 247 rankings with 20 commits each:
“There is a growing interest from high-profile prospects, from coast to coast, to play in the SEC,” 247Sports Director of Recruiting Steve Wiltfong said. “From the College Football Playoff to the NFL draft to the big stadiums and huge fan bases, these kids are very excited about playing there. Clemson and Ohio State are SEC programs in a different league. The perception is the same as the others with the way they churn it out in the draft year in and year out."
“There definitely is an arms race between Georgia, Clemson, Ohio State, Alabama, LSU, those type of schools,” Georgia quarterback commit Carson Beck told 247Sports. “All the top talent is going to get truly split between those schools unless one school comes together and form that No. 1 class that’s just unreal.”
Five-star receiver Julian Fleming, the No. 5 overall player in the country, takes his role as the Buckeyes’ lead recruiter seriously. He and fellow Buckeye commit Lejond Cavazos were in the ear of a target before Fleming stopped to speak with 247Sports.
“We want to get the kids and we want to build a class that can win a national championship ultimately,” Fleming said. “If that means we’ve got to break our neck talking to some kids or go out and talk to some kids, then we going to do it.”
“Ultimately, I feel like Georgia going to be there. Alabama is going to be there. Ohio State is going to be there. Clemson is going to be there,” Fleming said. “I feel like it’s those four. It’s those four schools that are really in the running year in and year out.
“If you want a national championship and want to be a contender, you’ve got to be at one of those schools.”
Another program could break through the perceived recruiting upper crust with years of building and some well-time victories on the trail like the [Clemson] Tigers managed to. The question is who might that team be. Wilftong suggested a few programs are in that mix: Oklahoma (due to its offensive recruiting), Notre Dame (recruiting extremely will coming off a playoff appearance), Washington (opportunity to pull a Clemson in a weaker league), Texas (blueblood program in a recruiting hotbed), USC (sleeping giant), Tennessee (won some head-to-heads against some of the bigger schools). [ED: Michigan did not make Wiltfong's list. Not impressed with the MOB Move, I guess.]
Jeebus Clemson is hammering it. I wonder how many classes have ever featured that many high end recruits? Seems like an all-timer.I am projecting Ohio State to finish 4th in the final team rankings (at least based on the current individual rankings, which will change over time).
Clemson is currently #1, and they should finish in that position. They already have five 5-star commitments and are the favorite for #1 overall prospect Jordan Burch. They are also favorites for the #40 overall prospect (LB Phillip Webb), the #98 overall prospect (WR Xzavier Henderson), and the #105 overall prospect (WR E.J. Williams). I project Clemson to finish with a team score of approximately 321.
Alabama is currently #2, and they should remain there. They are the only team that has a legitimate chance of catching Clemson, but for that to happen the Tide need to hit a trifecta of 5-star recruits, namely LB Sav'ell Smalls, RB Zachary Evans, and TE Darnell Washington. The Tide leads for all three, but they are far from "locks". Bama being Bama, they will find a way to flip some blue chip prospect near Signing Day. I project Alabama to finish with approximately 317 points (although it could be much higher because the Tide are epic "closers").
Georgia is currently #6 and trailing Ohio State by over 30 points. However, the Bulldogs have only 14 commitments (compared to 20 for Ohio State), and they are heavy favorites to land three more 5-star prospects: CB Kelee Ringo; RB Kendall Milton; and TE Arik Gilbert. If their class fills up as expected, the Bulldogs should finish #3, with a projected score of approximately 306.
Ohio State is currently #4. The Buckeyes have eight top-100 commitments, but also nine 3-star commitments (as someone said, the class is half Meyer, half Tressel). The good news is that most of Ohio State's remaining targets are blue chip prospects, including RB Bijan Robinson (#22); DB Lathan Ransom (#76); APB Jaylan Knighton (#108); and LB Kourt Williams II (#169). Those four would put Ohio State at 303 points, and adding DL Jacolbe Cowan would bump them up over 305 points. Flipping Elias Ricks from LSU would probably secure the #3 spot for Ohio State.
If Ohio State lands their top targets (Robinson, Ransom, Knighton, Williams), then LSU (currently #3) probably finishes behind Ohio State with or without Elias Ricks. I project LSU to finish with approximately 300 points with Ricks, and approximately 294 points without him.
Michigan is currently #7 with 22 verbal commitments. If the Wolverines land their four remaining top prospects (RJ Moten, Van Fillinger, Brenden Rice, Kenny Mestidor), then their class score will jump from 247.69 points all the way up to ... 251.90 points. That should be good enough to MOB Move them right down to the middle teens of the final rankings.

The Elite Five are Ohio State, Clemson, Alabama, Georgia, and LSU.
- 2020 QB Kade Renfro (Stephenville, TX) is currently committed to North Texas. He camped at Ohio State this weekend and could earn an offer as the second QB in this class, with the blessing of current QB verbal Jack Miller.
Ryan Day and Ohio State could potentially add another quarterback to their 2020 class, with Gunnar Hoak and – potentially – Justin Fields set to leave the program after the 2020 season. At that point, 2020 commit Jack Miller and 2021 commit Kyle McCord are the only two scholarship quarterbacks set to be on the roster. That’s less than ideal for the Buckeyes.
But with the scholarship window growing smaller and smaller before Ohio State hits the 25 mark, and prospects like Bijan Robinson, Lathan Ransom, Kourt Williams and Jaylan Knighton looking strongly at the Buckeyes, weighing whether a backup quarterback is more significant than a shot at a big-time recruit – say a five-star edge rusher like Desmond Evans – becomes a serious conversation.
But there is one option that could not only be a legitimate backup quarterback but will also buy Ohio State some time while he plays for offers in his senior season – North Texas quarterback commit Kade Renfro.
Renfro is an interesting case nationally. Out of nearly 60 quarterbacks to participate in the Elite 11 Regionals in Houston this spring, he was named MVP. That was a year after he suffered a hip injury on both sides of his body – his left side in the spring 2018 and his right side during two-a-days in the summer.
“They’re getting pretty serious,” Renfro told Eleven Warriors. “Just waiting to see how the season goes. It’s up to Coach Day now, and Coach Yurich has been talking to me now for quite a bit.”
On a side note, it's interesting that the author name checked Desmond Evans - I wasn't aware that he had any interest in Ohio State.Jack Miller has said he would be okay if Ohio State brought in another 2020 quarterback, and Ohio State has made it clear that Miller is still its guy at the position. Anyone committing at this point would need to enter with the understanding that it would be a long process in earning the starting spot from Miller.
Renfro is fine with that, he said, as long as he eventually earned his fair competition.

can't help but think that Day/OSU winning a lot of these head to head battles with Herman has a lot to do with the stink on Herman and his old lady in regards to Z. Smith.
if I am a parent I am probably steering my kid away from Herman and his strip club visits and whatever illicit activity he and his old lady partake in.
just my opinion.
