tOSU Recruiting Discussion

Not surprising about big stadiums in Texas. Two biggest sports in Texas are HS football, and spring HS football. No joke. Lived in Longview Texas for several years, and after a Friday, wanted to meet up with some buds for drinks and women-chasing. They were going to Longview HS football game. OK, went to the bar, which was empty (except for me, bartender, couple of other barflies) and around 10:00ish, filled up. Had tens of thousands at the game (OK embellished a bit), but THEN the bar filled up.

What's the size of Massillon's stadium anyway? Rural schools especially as that's the big thing doing (pretty much in every rural city in US, I expect).

The thing I noticed with Texas HS football stadiums is each stadium has several teams that call it their home stadium. At least in Houston, there are a lot of these "Regional" stadiums. The stadiums are big but they will host 2 games on Friday and 2-3 more on Saturday. When I lived in Columbus, most schools had their own stadium.

Just checking in to point out that the premiere summer recruiting events for Ohio State and Michigan are a perfect microcosm of the programs under Urban Meyer and Brady Hoke.

Michigan's premiere event is a BBQ focusing on lethargic eating and presumably a lot of windbags thumping their chests about past and perceived greatness in between mouthfuls of food.

Ohio State's premiere event is Friday Night Lights focusing on competition and great performances on the biggest stage.

Like I said, perfect encapsulation of the differences between Meyer and Hoke, in my opinion.

In fairness, the BHBBQ was started under DickRod, but your point stands...
