Game Thread tOSU @ Penn State, Oct 25th @ 8pm ET, ESPN

One thing I loved is that horrible call earlier in the game. When was the last time and obviously horrible call has gone the Buckeye's way? In an OPPONENT'S house no less? Hilarious. Curious to see how we approach the MSU game though.

On the one hand, Ohio State went into overtime against that terrible Penn State team, and I'm disgusted.
On the other hand, Ohio State beat Penn State. Good.

Remember: Ohio State barely won at Purdue, at Wisconsin, and needed overtime at Illinois in 2002. How were those teams records at the end of the year? My point is that as disheartened as I am, I need to remember that a win is a win.

Penn State is a crap offense, ranking outside the top 100. They put 17 points on in the second half, playing even with Ohio State on TOP. They made it look way too easy in the first OT. This one is on everyone, especially the O coaching staff.

But only 10 of those were on the D, and even then the 7 came from a short field turnover.
The last drive was disappointing, but even the best defenses will eventually break when repeatedly left on the field for that long.
10 points over the course of 60 minutes is fine, regardless how bad their offense is.

The real problems were our own offense, missed FG, play calling, and penalties.

The whole offense looked rattled all regulation if you ask me. To me it looked like the game plan was 15 up the middle, zone read, and then some sort of pass to counter the heavy pressure such as screens and slants. For me this is just another game in the off season where TH goes "yeah we just packed it in too early and I got out coached" (just like Wisky in 2012)... well I'm fed up with that response to be frank about things. This offensive staff needs to learn how to call a game when the opposing team can actually hit you back. Because every time
we play against someone like that no one has any idea what to do to counter. Poor game plan, poor adjustments, and when we play MSU in two weeks it'll be a lot of the same so we better figure out how to go toe to toe with a good defensive staff.

Yes the oline could've played better, JT made two very poor choices, and our team took a ton of ill timed penalties but overall it's our refusal as a offense to find a way that IMO is the biggest concern.

Because right now PSU and Tech absolutely stymied our offense.

That is the problem. All of this press about the explosive offense but it has been against poor competition. Ohio State really wilted in the second half. It is a good win for lots of reasons, not the least of which is character building for the youngsters. They also pulled together at the end in one of the most hostile places to play. Enjoy it and hope our favorite team learns from it.

Not sure how much it changed things, but Urb in his presser said JT was injured. Sounds like a lot of play calling was them trying to work around the situation.

Pencil State fans claiming they "spoiled our season today" by knocking us out of the playoffs with a close game.
1. Keep winning and nobody is going to remember the team "almost losing". A B1G playoff representative was already an outside shot, all of the dominos still have to fall.
2. How sad is your program that you are this jubilant over a loss? I think "we beat you and you liked it" feels pretty good too.
