Game Thread tOSU @ Minnesota, Nov 15th @ 12p ET, ABC/WatchESPN

When I looked at the schedule way earlier in the year, I saw this game as potential trouble simply having to go on the road after an emotional and physical game with Sparty the week before. I thought the weather could be bad, but not this bad, and I didn't think the Gophers would be as good as they are. So, the Bucks might have their hands full.

Still, if Ohio State can throw the ball, they will be in fine shape, because they will also be able to run and score a ton. Minnesota already is pretty much 1 dimensional, except that they pick their spots to throw the ball. That TE of theirs is the truth. If the weather makes both teams one dimensional, it will be a tight one. I don't like tight ones. Bad for my ticker.

Here's to this game starting at noon. I've had my fill of waiting all day to see my team.

I don't believe the weather will be a factor. They are calling for a high of 25 with light winds of 7 MPH on a sunny day. The weather will feel no worse to our players than it was this past Saturday night IMO. Buckeyes roll as the weather is a non factor.

"All" was the wrong term--they have Floyd & the Jug together this year and that's the first time since LSD was still legal.

I wouldn't count them out for the Ax, too, though. They should have three losses going into that game.

The pig, the axe, the jug, and the bell.

I guess if you never really have a chance at the only real trophy in the conference you can make some up to play for; fortunately Ohio State plays to the only important conference trophy every year.

Other than the Victory Bell, those trophies were not "made up." The Jug and Floyd have cool backround stories of how they came about. I suppose you could argue that the Axe was simply made up but that's because us and UW used to play for the slab of Bacon but UW were little bitches and never gave it back to us after a victory. So then the Axe was made.

I love that we play for arguably the 3 most famous traveling trophies in college football.

How dare you!! I'm sure Urban will plaster that statement all over the locker room as pure trash talk. Inflammatory!! To desecrate the mighty Illibuck in that manner! I'm expecting a beat down of epic proportions now!

Brady Joke. I'm assuming you guys want Michigan to keep him forever. It's pretty remarkable what happened to them the last 3 years. In October of 2011 I sat in the Big House and watch the Gophers lose 58-0. Fast forward 3 years to this fall and the Gophers dominated them in Ann Arbor. Hoke and Kill were hired in the same year so it's interesting to compare the progress of each program.

That slab of bacon never stood a chance.

Strib: Leidner says cold could be Gophers' edge over Buckeyes

per Jason:

The trek to and from class has extra significance for the Gophers this week. Any additional time the players can spend outside adjusting to the frigid temperatures will make Saturday’s weather less of a factor.

The Gophers also spent Wednesday evening practicing outdoors and will spend the rest of the week outside preparing for Ohio State.

The cold, on the other hand, could be a game-changing factor for Ohio State.

“I’m sure there is an advantage,” Gophers quarterback Mitch Leidner said. “Even just being outside this week walking to class your body is adjusting to the cold for all the guys. It’s tough to come here and play in the cold. You definitely gotta get used to it fast. … The balls turn into rocks, pretty much.”
