Game Thread tOSU @ Minnesota, Nov 15th @ 12p ET, ABC/WatchESPN

Guy over on the gopher hole posted some impressive numbers for the minny QB. Kid ranks behind Barrett in just about every category and ahead of cook. Bucks need to bring the MSU intensity Saturday.
Leidner has been very solid in conference play. We don't ask him to do a lot, just take care of the football and make the throws he's supposed to make. Although against a team like the Buckeyes he may need to do more I would imagine.

I'm calling it: Minnesota will beat the pompous Buckeyes from Ohio State in historic fashion.

They are too concerned with rankings and their current standing in the playoff chase. They are the Yankees of NCAA football, thinking about how much they will win by this week rather than whether they will win at all.
Always an interesting perspective from a fan. I think everyone from the fans to the media are concerned with our ranking, etc. I am betting though that the team is clear on their mission and they know better than anyone what is at stake the rest of the way.

Goldy I've watched Minnesota play quite a bit in the last couple of years. Love how your team plays and how the kids carry themselves . I believe the Buckeyes will win but I expect the game to be a dog fight.

There are some angry Gopher fans right now about the Vikes letting your team use their heated benches this Saturday. Any of you following this story? For some reason the U asked the Vikings if OSU could use the heated benches and the Vikings were fine with it. The Gophers of course have heated benches but not the visiting sideline typically. I usually don't get annoyed with little things like this but even I'm a bit mad about this. Our weather up here is part of our home field advantage. It'll be interesting to see how this plays out the next couple days as there are a lot of angry Gopher supporters. I wouldn't be shocked if the decision is reversed.

Jerry Kill Press Conference, preview for Ohio State

"We come off a good win. And you go home, and you kick back and relax and get you a bowl of ice cream, and then you put on the TV and you watch Ohio State. So ... then you don't sleep the rest of the night, and you don't get a chance to enjoy the win, and now all you do is worry about what you're going to do."

The weather is a advantage for no one IMO. The gophers practice indoors later in the year as do the buckeyes and high school football here is over by the last week of November Where yes it's cold but not normally 25 as a high. You factor that with a lot of the roster not being from Minnesota and you have a game that will be equally miserable for both teams.

I do agree with what you said goldy about Liedner though. He is not asked to do a lot but with your running game doing so well he can be pretty good with playaction. As you said though i feel he will have to be more than just a manager of the offense to win the game. Also welcome to BP it's always great having level headed fans here i hope you stick around even after the game

I couldn't agree more with the Bold. Their last four games really puzzle me though. I mean I applaud them for smacking scUM in the shithouse, and virtually ripping the COY award away from Ferentz. On the other hand they lost to Illinois, and tbh made me notice Purdue was still in the BIG the only time this season. I don't think this will be an easy win, but I don't see it being a close one either.

This Buckeye team has been very difficult to predict. We all thought that the team would score 49 against State Penn and 17 against Sparty, and we got exactly the opposite results. All the advantages in this game go toward Ohio State, except for: (1) home field, and (2) the emotional let down after the big win in East Lansing. The Buckeyes need style points, but the weather may hinder an uptempo offense. I see this as a grind it out game with an emphasis on defense. Talent prevails: Ohio State 25, Minnesota 10

We could just grind it out up tempo. How about that?

I think a few factors played into these games, rather simply playing a "crappy PSU team" and an "excellent MSU team". PSU has a pretty solid defense...it's their offense that totally sucks and is keeping PSU from being a pretty decent team. Plus the game was their "Super Bowl" for the year, even though they are now allowed to play in a bowl. Couple that with it being Barrett's first prime-time night game on the road with 100,000 rabid Pedsters, and it's easy to see why he struggled, especially in the second half of regulation. Michigan State's defense isn't that much better, their crowd isn't nearly as large, Barrett had the PSU game under his belt, and most importantly OSU had the revenge factor.

Well HeaterGate was uneventful - turns out Minny asked the Vikes to let OSU use those benches and they agreed.

It's much ado about nothing; the weather in EL last week was nearly identical to what will be faced this weekend.

Mili : You bring out some very good points in your post here. The part that I think about most is the "Revenge Factor" There can't be any of this going up against Minny. Maybe we will have no Idea of what we will be up against this team or what to expect. I just hope whatever game plan that Herman and Meyer will draw up, maybe have a few surprises for Minnesota.
