tOSU @ Michigan State, Tues 1/7 @ 9p ET, ESPN

They can't get crushed on the glass in this game like they did against Nebraska and realistically expect to win. EDIT: I see they evened it up at the end of the game, but in the 1st half, Nebraska had more offensive rebounds than Ohio State had total rebounds or so the announcers said.

A hot shooting night would be awesome too.

I was going to comment on the same thing that Mike80 did yesterday. He beat me to it. Whoever wins the battle on the glass wins this game. B/C MSU isn't loaded w/ big bodies down low this year like usual, I think OSU can compete on the glass. I like the smallish line ups they have been trotting out there when they have needed an offensive jump start as well. If they pull Amir/McDonald can Ross hold down Payne if they go small?

Amir vs Payne on the outside might be the difference. We should be able to stop the guard play of Harris and Appling. Depends on how the refs call it.

That is why I am thinking the smaller line up Matta has been going to the last few games may work against MSU, especially w/ Payne liking to take his game outside. I think Ross on him could work to our advantage.

OSU didn't even try for offensive rebounds though. If the ball didn't go in, they were already on their way down the floor. It changed in the 2nd half though. The benefit was they worked hard on the defensive rebounds though.

I think you misunderstand - in the first half Nebraska was winning the board battles. and yes that did absolutely change in the 2nd half as I'm sure Thad was staring paint off the walls.

Didn't misunderstand. OSU wasn't even trying to get the boards. I was at the game. They were moving into defense mode before the shot even went in/missed. Nebraska didn't have to try to box out because OSU wasn't even goign for them.

This will be a tough game for OSU. There are some guys that are still working on finding their shots at this stage in the season & too much inconsistency - I'd rather this game be later in the year when they have had more reps. Whichever team's bench outperforms the other will have a big leg up in this one. And I like the OSU bench over the MSU bench, just not sure what they will bring in this one.

No, you've still missed what I am saying. Nebraska was getting offensive boards all over the place in the 1st half. That absolutely changed in the 2nd half. It was what was keeping Nebraska in the game.

I'm glad it is now for the reasons you mentioned. I want our team to be at its best come March more than I care about being undefeated in January. Tonight's game should be good for our team win or lose. Either they show well and get a quality road win or weaknesses are exposed and any chance of becoming complacent disappears.
