THE HURRY-UP: CLEMSON HOSTS SEVERAL KEY OHIO STATE TARGETS, CAMERON KITTLE ACCEPTS PWO OFFER, LUKE FARRELL EXPLAINS WHY HE JOINED BUCKEYES

BUCKEYES PICK UP PWO

Cameron Kittle – a two-time all-state quarterback in the class of 2020 from Trimble High School in Glouster, Ohio – announced on Friday that he is joining Ohio State as a preferred walk-on.

“It is surreal, for sure, and I’m so excited to get everything started,” Kittle told Eleven Warriors. “My high school coach and (Ohio State director of high school relations Ed) Terwilliger have known each other for a good while, and they were talking at a coaching clinic and got talking about me and that’s how the relationship with him started.”

Kittle, who also has a good relationship with Buckeyes assistant director of player personnel Justin Perez, says that he has spoken with the Ohio State coaches about playing defensive back, “but I will play anywhere the coaching staff sees fit.”

Haha not going to lie... I want to hear Christmas Dinner next year.

2 buckeyes and 2 tigers.

Herbstreit's older twin brothers, Jake and Tye Herbstreit, are both currently walk-ons at Clemson, where Tye is a wide receiver and Jake is a safety. Neither of them received preferred walk-on offers from Ohio State, but Kirk Herbstreit said earlier this year not to be surprised if Zak ended up with the Buckeyes.

Just sayin'; I guess if Jake and Tye Herbstreit weren't offered a "referred walk on" at Ohio State you can't hold it against them for accepting it at Clemson.

Also, my guess is that Zak is the better of the three too. At 217 ibs. Zak already weighs ~47 more pounds than the older twins.

More like non-legacy. Semi-legacy would be my son--the son of a proud alum who reveres his alma mater and abhors the notion of ever trashing that alma mater for the sake of personal gain.

He's still a legacy, Jim Herbstreit is his grandfather. He's his grandfather's legacy (just skip one generation), etc.

Also, I didn't realize that Jim wore #45; he must have been good too, since they retired his number.....

A second-team all-conference performer for the Braves this past season, Wilson was ranked as the No. 25 center and No. 86 prospect from Ohio in the class of 2021. He chose walking on with the Buckeyes over offers from several FBS schools including West Virginia, Air Force, Army and Navy.

Eventually, Wilson plans to follow in his father's footsteps by becoming a coach himself, and he'll now have the opportunity to learn directly from his father and all of Ohio State's other coaches by playing for the Buckeyes.

Just sayin':

1) I looks like the list of those players not making at least 2nd team in the OCC might be smaller than those that did.

2) He must have very good "character", academics, and leadership qualities to get offers from the service academies.

3) OC, 6 1/2", 273 lbs. (probably not likely to break into the OL depth chart in the next few years); wonder if he was ever the long snapper in high school.

He is a grandson of a team captain proud Buckeye.

Edit: Apparently I needed to scroll down as he pointed it out before my post. But yeah. Just say’n. :slappy:

Ohio State commitment caps season as state champion, flashes O-H

The Buckeyes have the country’s No. 2 recruiting class in the 247Sports Composite class of 2021 team recruiting rankings. The Ohio State staff, led by Justin Perez who heads up Ohio State walk-on recruiting, is in the process of also assembling a talented group of preferred walk-ons. One of the players that has committed to Ohio State as a preferred walk-on is long snapper Mason Arnold from Tampa (Fla.) Carrollwood Day.

Arnold is also now a state champion. Arnold was a two-time state wrestling finalist as a sophomore and junior, and in November told Bucknuts his goal was to win a state championship as a senior. Mission accomplished as the 6-foot-2 and 240-pound Arnold finished his final year of high school wrestling with a 37-0 record and a state title. At the conclusion of his match and being named state champion Arnold flashed an O-H to the crowd.
