Ohio State is on the NCAA bubble and the only way the Buckeyes can finish on the right side of it is to prove they belong in the Big Dance.

Ohio State basketball faces do-or-die situation to make NCAA Tournament, as it should be
The beauty and brutality of sports are about to slug it out 2,200 miles west of Columbus.
Ohio State men’s basketball desperately needs a win at USC Wednesday night. Get the ‘W’ and the Buckeyes keep alive their shot at reaching the NCAA Tournament. Lose to the Trojans and an NIT RSVP suddenly pops up in OSU’s inbox. It wouldn't kill the team's NCAA hopes outright, but the heart monitor would begin to flat line at that point.
This is how it should be, right? What makes sports special? Controlling your own destiny. Facing must-win situations. Credit when mission accomplished. No excuses if mission failure. In that way, it feels like Ohio State’s next three games, against USC, home against Nebraska and at Indiana to close out the regular season, are a win-or-go-home mini tournament.
Some fans complain that college basketball’s regular season is nothing more than a waiting game, similar to standing in line for the concert doors to open. But OSU’s immediate future is the real deal. Win, or else.
Daily life isn’t always like that. Maybe not even usually like that. Mess up and you often get another chance. Mercies are new each morning. But sports are not so kind. There is no tomorrow, even when the sun rises the next day. Miss the 3 foot putt to lose the golf tournament and there is no going back to try it again. Same goes for coming up a fingertip short of taking first place in swimming or letting the puck through the five-hole in hockey. You get one chance. Make or break.

Just sayin': I honestly think that the ship (of any opportunity for Ohio State basketball to get the NCAA tournament this year) has already sailed or maybe more appropriately sunk.
