Game Thread tOSU at USC, Sat. Oct. 31st, 7:30 pm ET, NBC

I'm looking at tickets and teetering in pulling the trigger. Flights from where I'm at to LAX are not cheap right now unfortunately, but still might do it. I'll let you know if I do go for it. Halloween in LA could be sweet
I am contemplating it too. But I just have the feeling this won't be a fun game to watch. We will likely be ridiculously vanilla.

Ryan Day Expects Ohio State to Have “Full Arsenal” on Offensive Line, Majority of Injured Players Back Against USC

It sounds like Austin Siereveld and most of Ohio State’s defenders who were injured against Indiana will be back on the field against USC.

During Monday night’s Buckeye Roundtable show, Ryan Day said Ohio State “should have a full week of practice and a full arsenal of guys up front” when asked about the health of the Buckeyes’ offensive line, suggesting that Siereveld will be able to return after missing Ohio State’s last two games due to illness.

Assuming Siereveld does return, Ohio State will have to determine whether to start Siereveld at right tackle with Gabe VanSickle at right guard, or Siereveld at right guard with Phillip Daniels at right tackle. Before the Indiana game, Day said that Siereveld likely would have played tackle if he were available.

Day knows Ohio State’s offensive line will be crucial this week as the Buckeyes break in a new quarterback for his first career start.

“We're going to lean on them more to be the guys who lead this team,” Day said. “You got a young quarterback right there, I mean, they're going to be looking at him, but he's going to be looking at them. And I got to give them credit already, they're already building up the confidence of our young quarterbacks.”

Day was also asked about the health of three defensive players – Kenyatta Jackson Jr., Jay Timmons and John Walker – who suffered injuries in the second half of Ohio State’s win over Indiana. In response, Day indicated that he expected most but not all of them to play against USC.

“The bye week came at a good time. So I think we'll get the majority of these guys back,” Day said. “I don't know if we'll get them all back. We'll kind of see how the week goes. But the bye week definitely came at a good time, and I feel like we're going to get the majority of them back here for this week of work and into the game against USC.”

One injured player who won’t be back this week is starting quarterback Julian Sayin, who’s out indefinitely – and potentially for the rest of the season – with the elbow injury he suffered against Indiana. Day did not name a starting quarterback during Monday night’s show, instead saying that he thought both Luke Fahey and Tavien St. Clair performed well as they split reps during the bye week.

“I feel like this past week was a good opportunity for both he and Tavien to get work,” Day said when asked specifically about Fahey. “I feel like both guys have embraced it. I think it's different when you're getting reps with the ones as opposed to the twos and threes. And time will tell, but there's been a lot of energy in practice. I think the guys are up for the challenge and are excited to go play USC.”

He never showed up for it after that devastating loss to Florida State in the Sugar Bowl.
Just sayin':

1. I forgot about that.

Google AI: in the fictional movie The Replacements (2000), Shane Falco (played by Keanu Reeves) was a real-life (fictional) star quarterback for Ohio State who suffered a notorious meltdown, losing the Sugar Bowlby 45 points to the Florida Seminoles.
However, in real life, this game never happened:
    • Fictional backstory: In the movie, Falco's collapse in the "1996 Sugar Bowl" earned him the nickname "Footsteps Falco" and derailed his football career before he got a second chance with the Washington Sentinels.
    • Real history: Ohio State and Florida State did not play each other in a Sugar Bowl during that era (and Ohio State did not play in a Sugar Bowl against FSU in 1996). Note: There was no Sugar Bowl in 1996; that season it was played on December 31, 1995, Va tech beat Texas 28-10.
2. I actually was at the 1998 Sugar Bowl and it was a devastating loss to Florida State (31-14) too.....

I really hate USC. In fact, the only team I hate more is scUM. A lot of that has to do with them winning the Rose Bowl vs us when I was a little kid, and the fact that we had not beaten them in my lifetime, before 2017. Plus they seem to love hiring douche coaches..
I actually kind of like them. FSU as well.

I don't know how anybody can not like a programs that have dudes galloping around the stadium carrying weaponry while wearing battle gear.
