Game Thread tOSU at Texas, Sat. Sept 12, 7:30 pm ET, ABC

I’d really like to see a couple two-back sets and motion Bey out to the slot and hit him in the flat while you have Smith and DMC clear out.

Something like that midfield on a second and 5 might bring success.

I don’t know man I can see anything. Our rush could get completely stifled and we struggle to move the ball against their front and our defense is on the field too long.

Could also see us reigning hell fire with an air assault like they’ve never seen.

I know they reported there were 5 wide sets with Bey in the slot. So we’ll see.

I tend to think we’ll see something like that. No way we don’t do something in space like a swing pass or pop pass to #2. Doubt we’ll see conventional use for him but there’s got to be a few speciality plays I’d imagine.

Getting Bey open, in space, is the Bucks biscuits & gravy. Pour it on, baby!

My biggest comfort still is that Arch Manning is their QB. Until he actually shows he can perform at a high level against a defense of capable level I don't believe he's turned any corners
What floors me is a year later after Julian already went to New York… It’s damn near consensus AGAIN that Manning gives them the advantage at QB.

How do you watch the two play and come away with Arch being the better QB?

I don’t follow at all, and when I hear that argument I Question the persons intelligence or their ability to read. All you have to do is look at the stats. One almost set the yearly completion percentage mark and the other still throws into double coverage multiple times a game. What are we even doing here?

Then there’s this odd thing that this year Texas spent money on their roster. I assure you they did last year and btw they spent more than we did in 2024 too.

Both rosters are great, and it’ll come down to the simple things as it always does.

1. Turnovers
2. LOS

I’m confident Julian will take care of the ball. Can anyone say the same for Arch? Bottom line is that if our OL isn’t just an absolute mess we’ll win the game.

If it’s circa 2025 vs Indiana again then yeah it’ll be a dog fight. But if they can just hold their own I don’t see Texas being within 2 touchdowns in the 4th.

I'd add starting field position for drives as something that could be a problem if the Buckeyes don't get their special teams return game shit together. Can't have a game this week in which they have to go an average of 60-65 yards to score a TD while we have to go 75-80. Also, let's remember that they had no college film on Patricia last year. I don't think Arch is going to light it up or anything, but I don't expect to see the Underwood-like deer in the headlights we had last year either. In the end, if special teams fuckery is avoided, I think we'll be good, but it won't be easy, and we'd better shut down the running game.

Running the ball is how they’d win the game IMO if they can do it. I think our secondary is too good to just drop back against over and over even if they have two good WRs.

But as said above, our RT has to be better. If Julian is under pressure like the end of 2025 it’ll be tough to win this game. We don’t have to dominate (please dominate though) but the OL just has to play good.

Also, as said above. We have to play smarter than this last weekend. Too many penalties and Bey can’t make those mistakes taking the ball out.

Regarding the Oline, I noticed that everyone of them got beat in pass rush, . thats bad against a ball state. I still dont understand how Daniels is a all conference
I aslo noticed that we dont have a DE that performed at an elite level.
If they dont pick it up we could have a letdown against Texas.

I think it goes both ways. Whoever wins the rushing battle wins the game. Both teams are going to take away the pass. Going to be a physical battle upfront. Looking forward to it.

Sayin may need to get a couple 1st downs with his legs to pull this one out.
