Not even going to think about blaming the officials in this one. Texas was trying all they could to hand us the game in the 1st half and we couldn't take advantage

The refs didn't make the coaches call a terrible pitch play inside the 5 that killed a drive and led to us settling for a FG

and a shitty slow developing run on 4th down that prevented us from scoring at all.

Get a TD and at least a FG there instead and we win.

A 20 point lead, they were completely dead in the water and then we just stopped being aggressive. Just burn a little more clock, score one more time, or any number of chances to stop their offense.

What makes me the most sick was I sort of laughed when they went for it on 4th and 8 from their own 35 or so the first time. I thought for sure that’d fall incomplete and that’d be curtains after we punched in another touchdown to go up 30-3. The fans would’ve started going home and that would’ve been that.

I can’t believe they went for it that first time. I was annoyed when they got the first down by 1 yard, grew more annoyed when they scored, and then I knew we were toast when they got the first down on 4th and 5 from again deep in their own territory. I knew it right then and there.

Should’ve just let Texas score but now it’s all up hill from here. Where does this team go? Do they drop a few more or do they circle the wagons here?

The offense has a lot to figure out. They have to find the right balance of utilizing JJ but also not completely abandoning the other skill players. We aren’t beating teams in the games that matter if we’re only throwing to #4. What we didn’t do on offense yesterday was to use JJ as a decoy to open up others. The offensive line has to figure out what they want to do personnel wise and where the hell was Legend Bey?? He was out there for 1 play and then never saw him again. If he’s a difference maker underneath he can’t leave the field.

Defense was brilliant until they weren’t. I don’t have the words to describe how they went from looking like last years defense to a defense that couldn’t tackle Rondale Moore.

This one stings. It mainly stings to me because I think it’s a tough ask to only lose once to either Oregon, Indiana, USC, Iowa, and Michigan. Not to mention having to play Illinois who’s not terrible and going on the road to Nebraska. I’m quite anxious that this teams going to miss the playoffs now altogether because they potentially may have 3 losses.

Of the other teams you mention, Oregon looked like hot garbage losing to unranked Oklahoma State yesterday and that game is in Columbus. Illinois lost at home to an unranked Duke team and Iowa looks like Iowa. Doesn't mean those games can't be losses, but Indiana and USC are the biggest concerns. The Game is The Game and predicting anything for it is idiotic.
As for that 1998 Sparty loss, I would guess many here would say it was a bigger gut punch than last night, and it was costlier. Bucks were #1, 28 point favorites and leading 17-9 at the half. Never came out of the locker room in the second half and lost 28-24 so it was a bigger collapse than last night. It also cost OSU a likely National Championship. Last night was a loss to a top team at their house in a game Texas was favored to win. 1998 Sparty finished the year 6-6.

I'm not blaming anything on the refs, only pointing out what took place and people on here were asking if anyone knew what Day was pissed about.

Just have to find a way to beat Indiana. We get a bye before USC at least too,

2023 Buckeyes came from behind during a thrilling last minute drive against ND.

It was electric and the buzz around the win was similar to what people are saying about Texas.

The 2023 OSU team turned out to be super uninspired. That was the pinnacle.

2014 OSU team lost to a horrible Va Tech team, and then went on a truly inspired run in its aftermath.

Yes, this win was super disappointing, and concerning. The future slate of games is quite the gauntlet.

Here is the thing, this team has the tools, and so do the coaches. They were blowing Texas out for most of the game.

The tools are there, and it is early in the season. They showed they can win.

Let's hope that this team (including coaches) uses this disappointment as fuel for the rest of the 2026 season. Because again, everything is there, and they already showed they have what it takes. Just need to finish.

I'm cheering for the Buckeyes. Of course that natty run was amazing. It took a freaking player revolt for it to happen.

What is the offensive identity of this team?

They moved the ball pretty well in the 1st half just couldn't finish enough. The interior OL is strong and they are going to have a lot of success running inside. Pass protection was not the worst but not great either, that needs to keep getting better. I think a lot of people were expecting a Miami game style OL breakdown.

I think the 2nd half lack of execution was largely the result of a complacency and a cruise control attitude being installed by the coaches in the locker room at the half. They didn't even attempt to make an adjustment to a criminal level.
