Sorry guys, I didn't see the game (was watching and wondering about ours, obviously), but I saw the score and at first I was like, "What the eff dash dash dash?!?"

Can someone fill me in on what happened yesterday?

Slow Start, missed tackles, turnover, behind in score, can't run, missed tackles, Braxton pulls it out of his ass x3!, wtf defense?, got the lead, lost the lead, missed tackles, where did the run go?, missed tackles, 4th and goal wow!, blocked XP?!!!, INT -> OT, #$Q%@#$ can't stop Purdont!, fuck bollman, bye bye B10 CG.

As the optimist that I am, I'm trying to think of some positives from yesterday.

1. I think we get a new coaching staff for sure next year. I have nothing against Fickell, I feel for the awful situation he was put in, but I think it is best for him, the players, and the program for everyone to move on. Keeping Fickell on would be a continuation of the Tressel era and Fickell is no Tressel. I wish Fickell the best, but it is time for a new era.

2. Braxton Miller. The talent is obvious. More importantly though, he has stone cold ice water running through his veins. Take away the missed extra point and we are talking about another miracle comeback from a freshman qb. He's going to be special and only going to get better.

3. Devin Smith. I swear he gets open every play. Speed and hands. Bright future.

4. T.Y. Williams - making plays, showing his potential.

5. Ryan Shazier - future stud.

6. Bradley Roby, Travis Howard, Clarke etc - there is talent in the secondary

7. All of the freshman who play - they are gaining valuable experience that will pay dividends down the road.

8. Jordan Hall - Great hands, excellent in space - hope to see more of him in space.

9-100 - There is talent on this team and it is young. You don't beat Wisconsin and handle Nebraska on the road for most of the game without talent. The cupboard is not bare for the next coach. Today, like everyday, is a great day to be a Buckeye.

I like how your first positive is "the whole coaching staff is going to be replaced."

At this point, I think the thing holding the team back aren't the players themselves, but the people getting them ready for the games and calling the plays.

There are a lot of talented young men on both sides of the ball for the Buckeyes. Its a shame that they look so dismal due to Bollman or whomever's lackluster preparation for these games.

So if we do start looking for a new staff, it would have to be after dec 10th i assume. when abouts would that take place? sounds like we would only have a few months in the spring time to put it together

crap sorry thought i was in the head coach thread.

Going to the game at Purdue I found some things to be odd. The Purdue fans were great and easy to get along with. What was funny was that the stadium was about 3/4 full. I am just not used to seeing that when going to a Bucks game. I was pissed that we had bought tickets for full face value prior to the game. I could have got great seats for half of what I paid.

The other thing that was just downright funny to me was the fact that the crowd seemed more concerned about doing little things that led to "IU sucks". I know we get all worked up about ScUM, but, hello you weren't playing IU today. The Oaken Bucket game is a couple of weeks away.

Yeah, that was my experience when we played them for the basketball conference championship a few years ago. Basically every single chant and cheer ended in something about IU. That combined with all the PU fans around me being general assholes, really got on my nerves. At first it was just like "Oh, that's cute, but you're not playing IU." By the end, I was like "STFU with the IU chants already!" :pissed:

In their last six trips to Purdue, the Buckeyes are 2-4, with one of those wins being Holy Buckeye in 2002.

In those six games, the Buckeyes have been out-scored 120 to 118, and out-gained by an average of 368 to 308. The Buckeyes out-gained Purdue only in the 2007 win (381 yards to 272 yards).

In the four losses, Ohio State was out-scored 107 to 85, and out-gained by an average of 399 yards to 300 yards.

In the four losses, the Buckeyes gave up 17 sacks, while Purdue gave up 7.

In the four losses, the Buckeyes had 30 penalties for 245 yards, while Purdue had 14 penalties for 103 yards.

Interestingly, in the four losses, the turnovers were fairly even, with Ohio State committing 11 and Purdue committing 9.

The good news? After losing to Purdue in 2004, Troy Smith posted a 22-2 record as the starting quarterback and won the 2006 Heisman Trophy; and after losing to Purdue in 2009, Terrelle Pryor posted a 18-1 record as the starting quarterback and led the Buckeyes to victories in the 2010 Rose Bowl and the 2011 Sugar Bowl. Let's hope that Braxton Miller has similar success after the most recent Ross-Ade debacle.

Miserable game to watch. Down 10-0 early, 7 possessions in the first half, only 1 of which went for more than 3 plays. It was rather windy, which made the long throws tough.

Like most of you, I'm looking forward to having a new offensive system for 2012. Too much Dave, wildcat, and QB draws. But there were some plays worth commenting on.

With about 4 or 5 minutes left, Miller was in the shotgun, faked to Boom running right, rolled left and hit a wide open Spencer on a crossing route for a gain of 12 yard to the 30 yard line. Misdirection, an easy throw, a key first down. It's the kind of play that some teams run several times a game, and it's a novelty when we see it in 2011.

The go routes were overthrown with the wind behind him, but what's wrong with a play call where the WR gets 2 or 3 yards past a DB, especially on third and 17? The WRs were getting separation, but the accuracy wasn't there and sometimes the timing was an issue. Of course, that's the aspect of whether an offense is coordinated.

In the OT, I think the second play was actually the throwback TE screen that went for a TD against Nebraska, which we've been waiting to see again, but Purdue had it sniffed out.

It was a bad tackling day for the defense. I'm wondering if the tOSU defense has trouble against misdirection and screens because they don't often see those plays executed well in practice.

It would also be nice to get a break on a bounce of the ball at Purdue. They put it on the ground three times, and got them all back, a couple of times where it likely would have set up tOSU for easy points. And it would also would have been nice if a couple of balls that were thrown right at tOSU DBs had been held onto, but that's been a bad theme this season.
